Jack Kochanowicz will take the mound against the Dodgers to kick off this weekend’s series at Angel Stadium. Kochanowicz is coming off his worst start of the season, after allowing seven runs (six earned) on nine hits through four innings against the Blue Jays. I think we could see more of the same tonight against a Dodgers offense that’s been better on the road. They’ve averaged 5.9 runs per game away from Dodger Stadium, which is the second-highest average in the league. Kochanowicz has much better surface stats at home, but he owns an xERA over 5 in two of the three starts he’s made.
The biggest reason I think the Dodgers will do well is Kochanowicz’s pitch arsenal. He’s a heavy sinkerball pitcher, and the Dodgers have wrecked that pitch. Tonight’s expected lineup has a combined .387 wOBA with a .191 ISO against it. After that, he throws a slider, a changeup, and a four-seam almost equally. As you’d expect, the Dodgers have strong numbers against all of those pitches, with a wOBA of .352 against the slider, .326 against the changeup, and .367 against the four-seam. Once Kochanowicz departs, he’ll open it up to the Angels bullpen, which has a 5.06 ERA, an xERA of 5.22, and a 5.4 BB/9 over the last week.
We should see plenty of offense at Coors Field tonight, with tonight’s game total currently set at 11.5. Merrill Kelly will take the mound for the Diamondbacks, and he’s been abysmal. Through five starts and 26 innings, Kelly has a 7.62 ERA with an xERA of 9.93 and a 6.65 FIP. Lefties in particular have been his biggest enemy, as they’ve tagged him for a .506 wOBA, a 9.48 FIP, and five of the six home runs he’s allowed.
I like this spot for Moniak hitting near the top of the lineup. He’ll be surrounded by lefties, as three of the top four hitters in the Rockies lineup hit from that side. He could quickly be in a position to score or drive in runs if the Rockies get off to a hot start. He’s been hitting extremely well at Coors this season, with a .525 wOBA, a .507 ISO, and a 215 wRC+.

You can find this bet under the “Team Props” section on DraftKings Sportsbook. With Zack Littell taking the mound for the Nationals, home runs are always the story. Littell leads all pitchers in the majors with 14 home runs allowed, which is three more than anyone else. Littell has made eight appearances in both the rotation and bullpen and has allowed multiple home runs in five of those games. The Orioles sit around league average in home runs hit with 44, but the matchup against Littell is too good to pass up. Once he’s out of this game, he opens it up to a Nationals bullpen that has allowed the second-most home runs in the league.
