The Boys Season 5 just keeps building up to the series finale. Sam Connon breaks down everything you need to know about the superhero show before Episode 6 hits Prime Video.
After some more side quests, The Boys Season 5 finally feels like it’s building up to a massive crescendo. Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg delivered yet another surprise death last week, and it certainly won’t be the only one before the series finale later this month.
If you are dialed in for the final few weeks of The Boys, here is everything you need to know before Season 5 Episode 6 premieres:
Season 5 Episode 6 will premiere on Prime Video at 3 a.m. ET on Wednesday, May 6. The episode, which is titled Though the Heavens Fall, is expected to have a runtime around 1 hour.
The fifth season, like the previous four, will consist of eight episodes. The final four episodes will come out once a week until the series finale on May 20.
(Warning: Spoilers for The Boys Season 5 Episode 5 ahead.)
The Boys introduced a few more one-off characters last week, but the sprawling ensemble cast can only get so big in the series’ final few hours. There are, however, some impending crossovers from Gen V to look forward to now that the Supernatural reunion is in the rear-view mirror. Here is a look at who could be in the cast for Season 5 Episode 6:
Homelander and Soldier Boy seemingly found the man who has V1 after laying waste to a mansion full of Hollywood elites. Their next – and possibly final – person of interest is Bombsight, Soldier Boy’s former super-powered teammate. The Boys themselves also suspect that Bombsight stole the V1 from Fort Harmony, so the dueling sides could be on a collision course yet again. Based on the preview for Episode 6, there is going to be a setpiece at a Vought-owned retirement home for supes.
The virus plot has been stuck in place for a few episodes now, after Dr. Sameer trashed the Boys’ supply and left Frenchie to cook up a whole new batch. Butcher, once dead-set on laying waste to all supes, has opened the door to the possibility of Starlight and Kimiko getting a cure of some kind. There’s no guarantee that a vaccine is even possible, though, or if our heroes will have time to develop one with Homelander closing in on immortality.
While Soldier Boy appears to be as pro-Homelander as ever, the head of The Seven has now taken out two of his most important former allies in A-Train and Firecracker. We know that Sage is working against him, as well, while Ashley and Back Ashley are debating their place in the ongoing war. And even though Black Noir and The Deep are both Team Homelander, their feud with each other could get out of control sooner rather than later. That leaves Soldier Boy and Oh Father as Homelander’s best and brightest support as he tries to take over the country and establish a new religion.
The crew from Gen V could show up to help the Boys at some point, since they are aligned with Starlight and Edgar, but it probably won’t be until Episode 7 or 8. Zoe probably wouldn’t be too pleased to know Homelander captured her grandfather, either, to say nothing of Ryan’s beef with his own father. So, for as powerful as Vought is, their list of enemies is as long as ever.
The Boys Season 5 Episode 6 will premiere at 3 a.m. ET on Wednesday, May 6. The following two episodes will drop once a week at the same time until the finale on May 20.
Season 5 is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. The first four seasons are also available on the streaming service if you are looking to catch up, as are both seasons of Gen V.
The show’s creators have confirmed that there will not be another season of The Boys after Season 5. However, there are multiple spinoffs in the works. While Gen V was canceled after two seasons, prequel series Vought Rising and The Boys: Mexico are both in development. Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy is confirmed to be returning for Vought Rising, which is set to release in 2027.
