MLB Best Bets: Top Home Run props for Monday 5/18/26
Dan Johnson · 2026-05-18 · via DraftKings Network

Dan Johnson analyzes his three favorite home run props across all of Monday’s loaded MLB slate.

Monday’s HR board has a nice little charge to it: late-May heat starting to loosen the baseball, a couple of parks playing livelier than the surface totals suggest, and enough shaky contact profiles on the mound to keep the hunt from collapsing into the shortest prices. This is a swing-quality card. The best targets are bats with lift, barrel frequency, bat speed and recent impact that looks earned in the underlying data, then paired with pitchers whose 2026 profiles show the kind of leakage that turns one elevated fastball, soft cutter, backed-up slider or lazy sinker into a souvenir. We’re looking for price forgiveness as much as raw probability—the hitters whose odds still leave room for the number of ways they can punish one mistake.

Below are my three favorite picks from the early slate of games to swat one out.

Top MLB Home Run Props

JJ Bleday to hit a home run (+400)

Bleday burned the card yesterday at +440, but that miss is also part of why the rerun still works at +399. Nothing in the profile says the handicap was chasing smoke. The same price-to-damage shape is sitting there again: lift, loud contact, and a park that rewards both. Bleday’s 2026 Statcast page is still carrying a .490 wOBA, .450 xwOBA, .635 xSLG, 92.8 mph average exit velocity, 52.9% hard-hit rate and 13.7% barrel rate, with a 47.1% sweet-spot rate and 22.3-degree average launch angle. That is the exact airspace for a left-handed bat worth revisiting instead of rage-crossing off after one empty ticket. Citizens Bank Park adds the shove: 92 degrees at first pitch, a total sitting at 10, and Andrew Painter bringing a 6.21 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, 48 hits allowed in 37.2 innings, seven homers allowed, .377 wOBA allowed, .350 xwOBA allowed, .473 xSLG allowed and a 10.5% barrel rate against. Painter’s K rate is only 19.8%, so Bleday should get contact chances. Yesterday’s miss stings, but the bet logic did not deteriorate overnight. At +399, the number is still paying enough to run back the contact-quality case. He should go today.

Sal Stewart to hit a home run (+340)

Another Sunday, another bet on a Yordan swat. He carries the shortest number because he is the most likely individual homer on this list. The price asks for real conviction at roughly a 24.7% implied chance, so this cannot be treated as a casual add-on. Saturday’s homer off Jacob deGrom matters as a quality-of-contact signal rather than a streak-chase prompt: Alvarez took one of the sport’s best arms deep for his 15th of the season as Houston hit four solo shots in a 4-1 win over Texas. The full profile supports the market’s respect. Yordan owns a 94.3 mph average exit velocity, 52.2% hard-hit rate, .451 wOBA, .500 xwOBA and 17.5% barrel rate, with another Statcast view showing an 18.0% barrel rate and .485 xwOBA. Nathan Eovaldi is the toughest pitcher assignment among the final three, allowing a .321 wOBA, .331 xwOBA, 46.4% hard-hit rate and 8.6% barrel rate, so the number is thinner than Bleday or Olson. Alvarez still belongs because his baseline homer probability leads the group, and in a three-leg card, raw thunder still matters.

Munetaka Murakami to hit a home run (+325)

Murakami brings the most violent raw HR profile of the three. He is carrying a .398 wOBA, .391 xwOBA, 95.4 mph average exit velocity, 63.6% hard-hit rate and 22.1% barrel rate on his main Statcast page, while the Statcast batted-ball leaderboard view pushes the damage even louder: 96.0 mph average EV, 64.9% hard-hit rate, .410 wOBA, .418 xwOBA and 24.6% barrel rate. That is not a normal slugger profile; that is a nightly mis-hit threat. He just ripped his first MLB multi-homer game against the Cubs, taking his season total to an American League-leading 17, and Reuters noted the White Sox had won six of eight on that homestand after the five-homer outburst. The friction is Bryan Woo. Woo has allowed only a .276 wOBA and .290 xwOBA with an 8.6% barrel rate, but the recent Woo concern is real: two poor starts before Atlanta included 16 hits and six homers allowed, plus a sinker carrying a .419 xwOBAcon. Murakami is playable around +350 because the bat can beat resistance.
