The Angels and Blue Jays are set to open a series at Rogers Centre on Friday night. Sam Connon shares his picks and predictions in regards to Los Angeles’ center fielder, Mike Trout, and his batter props.
The Los Angeles Angels are visiting the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday, opening up a series at 7:07 p.m. ET/4:07 p.m. PT. Mike Trout will once again start in center field for the Angels at Rogers Centre, making his 28th straight start dating back to April 7. Looking at the odds, lines and Trout’s batter props on DraftKings Sportsbook, here is a breakdown of how the veteran could perform at the plate on Friday.
DraftKings Sportsbook currently has Mike Trout’s hits line set at 0.5 for Friday’s contest against the Blue Jays, while his hits + runs + RBIs over/under is set at 1.5.
Trout is currently batting .260 with a .949 OPS and 2.2 WAR. He is up to 34 hits, 11 home runs, five doubles, 23 RBIs, 32 runs, five stolen bases and an MLB-leading 36 walks through 37 games this season.
That marks a pretty substantial return to form for the three-time AL MVP and 11-time All-Star. He averaged just 66.5 games played per season between 2021 and 2024 and hit just .242 with an .827 OPS between 2023 and 2025. Considering his .305 batting average and 1.010 OPS from 2012 through 2022, Trout had completely lost his grip on the title of greatest player on the planet. The 34-year-old is now healthy and striking fear in opposing pitching staffs again, even if he isn’t matching the previous heights of his power.
Based on FanGraphs‘ Steamer model, Trout is projected to rack up 21 home runs, 55 RBIs, 62 runs, 68 walks, five stolen bases and 2.4 fWAR in 99 games over the rest of the season. That model has his rest-of-season batting average at .236, with his projected OPS sitting at .814.
As it stands, Trout is currently riding a 15-game hitting streak against AL East opponents, like the Blue Jays. And in 38 career appearances in Toronto entering Friday, he boasts a .331 batting average and 1.116 OPS. He has 49 hits, 30 walks, five stolen bases and 99 total bases in those contests. Even narrowing the sample to 2020 and on, Trout is a .333 hitter with a 1.251 OPS at Rogers Centre.
Trout has notched at least one hit in 26 of 37 games this season, including 10 of his last 11. He has gone for multiple hits in three of those games and posted multiple total bases in five of them. Dating back to April 11, Trout is batting .306 with an 1.134 OPS, totaling 26 hits, 24 walks, 19 RBIs and 57 total bases in 24 appearances. That’s good for basically one hit and one walk per game, as well as 2.4 total bases a night. He has put up 3+ total bases in 10 of those games, too.
The one factor to watch out for is the fact that he is just 2-for-12 in his career against Toronto’s starting pitcher, Dylan Cease. At the same time, Cease has gone from a 2.10 ERA and 1.286 WHIP over his first five starts this season to a 4.97 ERA and 1.421 WHIP across his last two outings. If there is any time for Trout to get the better of Cease, this is probably it.
Strong Lean: Mike Trout 3+ total bases (+250)
