Sean Barnard details his top LeBron James player props for Sunday’s NBA playoff game between the Rockets and the Lakers.
The Los Angeles Lakers can sweep the Rockets with Game 4 on Sunday, April 26. LeBron James continues to put up a fight with Father Time and has proven that the days of him putting up impressive postseason stat lines are not over just yet. Houston has been a favorite in all three games thus far, but has fallen short each time.
This remains the case tonight, as the Rockets are 2.5-point favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Lakers are +114 underdogs with the game total set at 205.5.
Let’s dive into my favorite LeBron James player prop for Sunday’s contest.
The Lakers’ biggest concern entering this series was the rebounding battle. Houston is one of the best rebounding teams in the NBA, while Los Angeles has struggled in this department. Between Deandre Ayton and Jaxson Hayes, the Lakers’ front court isn’t formidable.
But then there’s James, who has led the team with 9.7 rebounds per game through the opening three games of the series. He grabbed eight rebounds in each of the first two games and 13 in Game 3, going over the 7.5 rebound prop line in all three matchups thus far. This comes after the 22-time All-Star averaged 6.1 boards per game during the regular season, a drop from his career average of 7.5.
The 41-year-old star is capable of playoff outbursts because he reserved energy during the regular season. Now with Luka Doncic (7.7 rpg) sidelined, James can step up. Expect another big rebounding performance from James as Los Angeles attempts a first-round sweep in Houston.
Rebounding isn’t James’ only responsibility; he’s essential to the offense, especially with Doncic and Austin Reaves missing time. Through the first three games in this series, the four-time MVP is averaging 25.3 points and 8.7 assists. He has tallied 32, 35, and 35 combined points and assists in these three victories. This comes after a regular season in which James averaged 20.9 points and 7.2 assists per game.
Reaves remains questionable after missing the opening three games of this series. But even if he returns, Doncic will still be out. Even being 23 years into his career, James is a matchup nightmare with a combination of size and athleticism. He still has a burst that allows him to get downhill and create an advantage as either a scorer or playmaker. Expect James to be the primary ball handler with or without Reaves in the lineup, leading to over 31.5 points and assists.
