Bryan Armetta breaks down Saturday’s two-game featured NBA playoffs DFS slate to find two undervalued players to slot into your lineups.
To cap off Saturday’s loaded postseason slate, it’ll be two intriguing featured NBA DFS contests. At 6:00 pm ET, the Knicks will look to even things up on the road against the Hawks. At 8:30 pm ET, it’s a similar story for the Nuggets as they hope to claw back vs. the hated Timberwolves.
Tonight’s action certainly isn’t lacking in star power. Big names such as Nikola Jokic ($12,600), Jalen Johnson ($9,100) and Anthony Edwards ($8,700) are all expected to suit up. Still, grabbing high-priced players can only take you so far. Grabbing a hidden gem or two can make all the difference for fantasy managers. Which bargains are worth a closer look ahead of this evening’s Game 4 matchups?

The Nuggets were a shell of themselves on Thursday, getting blown out 113-96 against Minnesota. While credit is due for the Timberwolves and their defense, it’s not the kind of performance we’ve come to expect from Denver. Just about everyone can put together a better showing tonight, including Christian Braun. The two-way guard isn’t the most dangerous offensive player. However, he’s been fairly consistent over the past few weeks. Including the postseason, Braun has notched at least 23.0 fantasy points in five of his previous seven outings.
During the regular season, the 25-year-old averaged 11.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game (23.8 FPTS). That kind of all-around production tends to play well in DFS formats. It’s also worth noting that Braun tends to perform at his best in this spot. Over his last seven meetings with Minnesota, the Kansas alum has posted 10.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists. Those aren’t outstanding numbers, but it’s nothing to sneeze at either. The Timberwolves are somewhat vulnerable on the glass as well, allowing the 11th-most boards per game to opponents (53.5). Braun, a good rebounding guard, should take advantage tonight.
Knicks head coach Mike Brown mixed up his rotations at the end of Game 3, opting to bench the struggling Mikal Bridges ($5,200). In his place, sixth man Miles ‘Deuce’ McBride played a key role down the stretch. On Thursday, the fifth-year pro tallied 15 points on five-of-14 shooting against Atlanta (23.2 FPTS). In spite of inefficient shooting, the guard’s active defense (two steals) and willingness to take contested shots earned him a spot on the floor. Don’t expect him to start on Saturday, but 20+ minutes feels like a lock in this one.
It’s not as if the Hawks are the most difficult group when it comes to the perimeter. They’ve allowed the 15th-most fantasy points to shooting guards this season. McBride has been feast or famine all season, due in part to his dependence on shooting. With that being said, a struggling Knicks offense could use some shooters at the moment. After making just 29% of their three-pointers in Game 3, New York needs to space the floor tonight. McBride, a career 37% shooter from beyond the arc, offers a potential solution. Given his dirt-cheap $3,800 price, Deuce offers high upside this evening.
