Blake Krass breaks down the odds on which players could be the leading goalscorer for the Netherlands at the 2026 World Cup.
The 2026 World Cup is a massive one for the Netherlands. They have been excellent at the World Cup over the last 30 years. There are two outliers where they didn’t even qualify for the tournament. However, they have made it out of the group stage in all five World Cups they have played in since 1998. That includes a fourth-place finish in 1998, a runner-up finish in 2010, a third-place finish in 2014 and a quarter-finals trip in 2022. They are currently the No. 7 team in the world in the FIFA rankings and have the eighth-best odds to win the tournament.
This is a look at the odds of who will be the Netherlands’ top goalscorer at the FIFA World Cup.
You can bet on who will be the top goalscorer for the Netherlands at the 2026 World Cup on DraftKings Sportsbook.

The Netherlands has a solid group of attacking players. Memphis Depay is in the later stages of his career, but he is the Netherlands’ all-time leading goalscorer. He is incredibly experienced and knows how to score goals in these big competitions. However, there is some concern around the health of Depay, who has not played for his club since March. If Depay cannot play at the World Cup, it would be a massive blow for the Dutch. This is a team that will already be without Xavi Simons, who tore his ACL while playing for Tottenham.
Donyell Malen and Cody Gakpo are two players who will definitely be starting up top for the Netherlands this summer. Gakpo has struggled at Liverpool this season, but he has always been brilliant when playing for his nation. Gakpo was the leading scorer for the Netherlands at the 2022 World Cup, scoring three goals in five games. He was also the leading goalscorer for his nation at the 2024 Euros.
Donyell Malen is in excellent form heading into this World Cup. Malen went on loan to Roma during the January transfer window and has been playing some of the best football of his life. He has scored 13 goals in 17 starts for Roma in Serie A this year. He could be in for a breakout tournament at this World Cup if that form continues.
Brian Brobbey, Wout Weghorst and Joshua Zirkzee are all strikers who come in and make an impact as well. The amount of playing time that those strikers will get will largely depend on the health of Memphis Depay.
With the health of Memphis Depay in question and Xavi Simons out with an injury, Malen and Gakpo are the only two forward players that can be relied upon for the Dutch. While Gakpo is almost always great with his nation, his club form has been terrible this season. Meanwhile, Malen will be full of confidence after his amazing stint at Roma. With slightly longer odds than Gakpo, that makes Donyell Malen the player to bet on to lead the Netherlands in goals at this World Cup.
