Alex Hunter breaks down his top DraftKings NBA DFS targets and value plays for tonight’s slate on Wednesday, May 6.
The NBA Playoffs continue Wednesday with a two-game slate. DraftKings continues to offer huge contests for DFS players, and below, I break down some of my favorite NBA DFS options at each position for Wednesday’s NBA action.

Tyrese Maxey, Philadelphia 76ers at New York Knicks, $8,100
The 76ers got embarrassed in Monday’s Game 1 vs. the Knicks, losing 137-98. In the lopsided defeat, Maxey only scored 17.75 FPTS in 26 minutes. Philadelphia looked tired after defeating the Celtics in a nail-biting Game 7 on Saturday and the 76ers should be more competitive in Game 2. Maxey should bounce back and this is a great time to buy low on the guard, as his salary has plummeted to a season-low $8,100 and due to recency bias, many should fade him tonight.
Maxey has topped 50 FPTS in half his starts this postseason and he averaged 47.4 FPTS per game in his four matchups vs. the Knicks in the regular season. Maxey is producing 1.3 FPTS per minute with a 29% usage rate this season and he should get back on track tonight with at least 40 FPTS.
Other Options: Jalen Brunson ($8,200), Stephon Castle ($6,700)
Terrence Shannon Jr., Minnesota Timberwolves at San Antonio Spurs, $4,300
If Ayo Dosunmu (questionable, calf) remains out for the third game in a row – which seems very possible given how cautious teams are about calf injuries nowadays – Shannon will be a strong target. The Timberwolves are coming off two impressive wins, closing out the Nuggets in Game 6 and then upsetting the Spurs in Game 1. Shannon started in both these contests and was a huge factor, scoring 37.5 and 23.75 FPTS while logging 34 minutes in each game.
Even if Shannon moves back to the bench with Anthony Edwards starting again, Shannon would be in line for 25+ minutes if Dosunmu sits. Shannon is amassing 0.8 FPTS per minute with Dosunmu off the court and Shannon is averaging 28.5 FPTS per game when he has cracked the 20-minute mark this season (eight games).
Other Options: Kelly Oubre Jr. ($5,000), Dylan Harper ($4,700)
Karl-Anthony Towns, New York Knicks vs. Philadelphia 76ers, $8,400
Despite only playing 20 minutes in the Knicks’ blowout win in Game 1 vs. the 76ers, Towns finished with 37.5 FPTS. The big man has been excellent this postseason. Before seeing limited work in Game 1, Towns had eclipsed 50 FPTS in four straight.
The Kentucky product is leading the Knicks with 1.4 FPTS per minute this postseason while shooting 58% from the field and handling a 26% usage rate. Towns is vastly underpriced at just $8,400 and is a tough fade given he can be rostered at power forward or center on DraftKings.
Other Options: OG Anunoby ($6,500), Josh Hart ($6,300)
Devin Vassell, San Antonio Spurs vs. Minnesota Timberwolves, $5,300
Vassell continues to be too cheap. The veteran finished with 33.75 FPTS across 36 minutes in Game 1 vs. the Timberwolves and he has scored at least 26 FPTS in all but one of his six starts this postseason.
Vassell is logging 34.3 minutes per game in these playoffs, which is a big jump from his 30.5 average in the regular season and the increased playing time will continue tonight as the Spurs look to avoid an 0-2 deficit on their home floor. Vassell is generating 0.9 FPTS per minute with an 18% usage rate this postseason and he is a tough value to pass up at only $5,300.
Other Options: Julian Champagnie ($4,500)
Victor Wembanyama, San Antonio Spurs vs. Minnesota Timberwolves, $10,600
Wembanyama scored just 11 points on 5-of-17 shooting in Game 1, but he still finished with 64.25 FPTS in 39.5 minutes, thanks to an NBA-record 12 blocks. Wembanyama isn’t going to swat 12 shots again, but he also isn’t only going to score just 11 points again. Facing Rudy Gobert is always a challenge, but Wembanyama should make adjustments and do everything he can to even this series on his home floor tonight.
Wembanyama has scored at least 60 FPTS in two of his last three and he has scored at least 59 FPTS in two of his three matchups vs. Minnesota this season. The superstar is producing an absurd 1.8 FPTS per minute with a 32% usage rate this season and Wembanyama could approach 40 minutes again tonight with so much at stake. The big man should provide another massive fantasy score and $10,600 is a very low price for Wembanyama. Just three games ago, the center was priced at $11,500 on DraftKings.
Other Options: Joel Embiid ($8,900), Rudy Gobert ($6,200)
Mitchell Robinson, New York Knicks vs. Philadelphia 76ers, $3,900
Robinson is a worthwhile gamble for GPPs tonight. The center posted just 8.5 FPTS across 11 minutes in Game 1 vs. the 76ers, but his previous matchups vs. Philadelphia suggest a bounce back is possible.
In four matchups vs. the 76ers in the regular season, Robinson scored 49.5, 14.75, 26.5 and 26 FPTS. The center seeing more work in this matchup makes sense, as Philadelphia likes to have a natural center on the floor at all times and Robinson scoring over 20 FPTS tonight could happen. Plus, the center should be low-owned after the dud in Game 1.
Other Options: Naz Reid ($5,800)
