Frank Castle didn’t show up in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, but fans won’t have to wait long to see the Punisher in action again. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is returning to the Special Presentation pipeline, giving the Punisher a chance to take center stage on top of his supporting appearances elsewhere.

When does The Punisher: One Last Kill come out?

The Punisher: One Last Kill will premiere on Disney+ on Tuesday, May 12 at 9 p.m. ET. It is expected to have a runtime around 1 hour.

It marks the third Special Presentation from Marvel Studios. The first was Werewolf By Night, while the second was The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Both Phase Four projects hit Disney+ in 2022, the former as a Halloween special and the latter as a Christmas special.

Who will show up in this Special Presentation?

The MCU proper and Netflix universe are more intertwined than ever, with Matt Murdock’s cameo appearances in Spider-Man No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law opening the door for the Daredevil: Born Again revival. The two-season The Punisher show is now, to some extent, canon with the rest of the MCU. Jon Bernthal already came back in a few episodes of Daredevil: Born Again Season 1, and now some of his own supporting characters could follow him into this new era. What to expect in The Punisher: One Last Kill

More than anything else, the Punisher is a former Marine struggling with post-traumatic stress following the death of his wife and daughter. Frank worked through a lot of that pain in Daredevil Season 2, both seasons of his own show and a brief appearance in Daredevil: Born Again, usually by getting revenge and coming to blows with more traditional heroes who don’t approve of the vigilante’s fatal methods. He broke out of Kingpin’s off-books Anti-Vigilante Task Force prison at the end of Daredevil: Born Again Season 1, meaning he is back on the streets evading the law.

The Punisher: One Last Kill will center around Frank beating up thugs and protecting someone who reminds him of his daughter. Bernthal himself is a credited writer for the special, having developed it alongside director Reinaldo Marcus Green. The two previously worked together for King Richard (2021) and We Own This City (2022).

While Tom Holland almost certainly will not be appearing as Spider-Man in The Punisher: One Last Kill, Bernthal will show up as the Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day this summer. Keep an eye out for the ending of this special or some kind of post-credit scene to explain how or why Frank is going to cross over with Spider-Man, especially since everyone in the universe forgot Peter Parker was Spider-Man at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Will the Punisher return in the MCU?

Reports first surfaced in June 2025 that the Punisher would appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The first teaser trailer for the film – which is scheduled to come out in theaters on July 31, 2026 – featured Frank Castle in multiple sequences. There is also a third season of Daredevil: Born Again set to release in 2027. Since Luke Cage and Iron Fist are seemingly reuniting for that season, maybe Bernthal could reprise his role in that show as well.
