Ciaran Doyle gives his best bet on DraftKings Sportsbook for Thursday’s FIFA World Cup match between Japan and Sweden.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup continues on Thursday as Japan faces Sweden in the final round of matches in Group F.
Let’s dive into my favorite bet for this match.
Japan are currently ranked 16th in the FIFA rankings, while Sweden sits at 36th in the world.
I was all in on Sweden until they lost to the Netherlands 5-1. Japan drew the Netherlands 2-2, so if you’re going off results against a common opponent, Japan has the advantage here. There is a reason they are ranked 20 spots higher in the rankings, and they have not lost a match in each of their last nine.
Sweden came into this tournament in good form and started off hot with a 5-1 win against Tunisia. However, they were on the opposite end of that scoreline in the second match against the Netherlands and did not look great.
Japan are the better team here, and just needs a draw to guarantee a spot in the Round of 32. They can still possibly win the group, however, and a win gives them the best chance of doing that. They’ve looked great to start the tournament and I fancy them to continue that form against a Swedish team that will have lost a lot of confidence after their last match.
