The Eastern Conference Finals continue on Monday evening with the series now knotted at one game apiece. This time, the Montreal Canadiens will take home ice at the Bell Centre in front of a passionate fanbase as they host the Carolina Hurricanes, who prevailed in overtime last time out. The margins in the underlying metrics have been pretty thin through the first two games, so this should be a close contest between quality sides tonight.
Below, we’ll take a look at the best NHL player prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for the playoff action on Monday.

The Hurricanes did a great job of limiting shots on goal last time out, holding their opponent to just 12 over the course of a full game that went to an overtime period. That’s quite the feat, and while it’s not likely to be repeated tonight, they did only concede 22 shots on goal to open this series. Carolina was great at both ends in the regular season and can somewhat limit opposing volume with an aggressive forecheck, so what better prop to target than with an under on shots on goal. Cole Caufield finished second in the NHL in goals this season but isn’t exactly a volume shooter, prioritizing efficient looks instead. He’s tallied 36 shots on goal in 16 games this postseason, an average of 2.25 per contest. Moreover, he’s stayed under tonight’s line of 2.5 shots in each of the first two games against the Canes as well as in 11 of his 16 appearances. With that in mind, I like the under on Caufield’s prop line here.
The standalone value on this prop bet probably won’t impress, but there’s plenty of reason to use this one as a builder play. Sometimes, you just need to see a shot go in, too. Lane Hutson is one of the most exciting young blueliners in the NHL, producing the fourth-most points of any defenseman with 78 in the regular season. He did so with 12 goals and 66 assists, the latter of which also ranked third at the position. His role as a puck-mover is crucial to the Canadiens’ success, which we’ve seen time and again in the postseason as well with 12 assists, third-most among all skaters in the playoff field. Hutson is yet to record a point in this series, but he was on fire prior to it with 14 points and 12 assists in 14 appearances. He tallied at least one helper in 10 of his 16 total games so far in these playoffs, and at some point, he’s bound to get one against Carolina. Today could very well be the day, especially since Frederik Andersen has looked more vulnerable in the opposing net over the last two games.
