Alex Hunter breaks down his favorite WNBA player prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Tuesday’s WNBA matchup between the Aces and Liberty.
The Aces are hosting the Liberty on Tuesday for a clash of two of the WNBA’s best teams. Las Vegas is favored by 2.5 points and this game carries a total of 176.5 points on DraftKings Sportsbook. Below, I have featured three of my favorite WNBA player prop bets for this contest on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Ionescu has only played in five games this season as she has dealt with back and foot injuries, and the former All-Star has been a shell of herself, averaging just 7.1 PPG while shooting 32% from the field and handling a 19.5% usage rate, all of which are career-lows for her. Ionescu hasn’t scored more than 11 points in a game this season and in her last start, she scored just two points on 1-of-3 shooting vs. the Sparks on Sunday.
Los Angeles ranks second-to-last in defensive rating this season, so this performance from Ionescu was alarming. The guard only logged 21.5 minutes despite not dealing with foul trouble and with Satou Sabally joining the Liberty’s starting lineup for this game, Ionescu only saw a 10% usage rate, which was the lowest among New York’s starters. Sabally should continue to start tonight and playing alongside her should continue to hurt Ionescu’s usage. The Aces are a solid matchup, ranking eighth in defensive rating this season, but it’s hard to have much faith in Ionescu right now and 12.5 points is just too high of a line for her.
Unlike Ionescu, Stewart is having a strong season, but this 18.5-point scoring line is a little aggressive with the Liberty at full strength and backing her for this under is smart. Stewart is averaging 19.4 PPG this season, but in the five games that she, Ionescu and Sabally have played together, Stewart’s production dips to 15.8 PPG.
The veteran stayed under 18.5 points in all of these games and her 23% usage rate in these tilts is a notable drop from her 26.7% average for the season. Another concern is that the Aces are giving up the fifth-fewest points in the paint this season, which doesn’t bode well for Stewart, as 53% of her points this season have come in the painted area.
The Liberty rank second in defensive rating this season, but Chennedy Carter (illness) remains out for the Aces, which is a significant boost for Gray as a playmaker. In the six games she has played with Carter sidelined this season, Gray is averaging 8.7 assists per game, compared to 6.4 with Carter active.
Gray has dished out at least eight assists in 5-of-6 games without Carter, including a season-high 11 assists vs. the Sparks. Gray’s assist line absolutely should be higher than 6.5 and she is an elite bet to clear this number.
