One major death, one big question mark—Episode 10 changes everything in Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord.
Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord has had some killer lightsaber duels as well as some excellent firefights. But, we really haven’t seen any major deaths to this point.
Well that all changes in “The Dark Lord,” the 10th episode of Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord, with one confirmed major death and another implied. Read below to find out who is now one with the Force.
With the arrival of Darth Vader in Episode 10, “The Dark Lord,” you knew someone was going to die. And if you’ve been watching all season, it has seemed inevitable that Jedi Master Eeko-Dio Daki was not long for this world. Sure enough, Vader struck down Devon’s master, further nudging her toward Maul and the Dark Side.
Maul played a role in Daki’s death, shoving the Jedi toward Vader with the Force and leaving him to fight the Sith Lord alone. Vader overpowered Daki with rage and struck him down with a lightsaber through the chest, angering Devon and leading her to finally accept Maul’s offer to train her and help her gain their revenge.
Less clear was the fate of Captain Brander Lawson. While the Jedi and Maul were dealing with the Inquisitors and Vader, Brander, Rylee, Two-Boots and Vario were attempting to clear a path to Dryden Vos’ approaching ship. After initially succeeding in shooting down the Imperial aerial support, Rylee, Two-Boots and Vario are separated from Brander and both sides are pinned down. Ultimately, Brander tells his son he loves him and asks Two-Boots to take care of him, before stepping out and providing cover for the rest of the group to reach the escape ship. Brander’s fate is less clear as while he is shot multiple times, he’s still walking into the fog when we last see him, and if we’ve learned anything over the years from Star Wars it’s that if you don’t see someone die, there’s a good chance they’re not actually dead.

Season 1 of Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord included 10 episodes. The animated series has already been renewed for season 2.
