Zach Thompson dives into Saturday night’s five-game MLB slate to find three value options for your DraftKings lineups.
All 30 MLB teams are back in action this Saturday with many games in the afternoon, giving us baseball all day long. I’ll focus on the five games that make up the main DFS fantasy baseball night contests on DraftKings, which begin with the 7:15 p.m. ET first pitch in Cincinnati, where the Reds and Cardinals will finish up their doubleheader.
With so many players to choose from, finding the right MLB DFS Value Picks can help stretch your salary cap as you assemble your squad. In this post, we’ll examine my top three MLB DFS Value Picks, who all bring good upside at their low salaries.
The weather looks iffy early in the day, but the five games for the evening slate look relatively clear. It helps that two are indoors and two are in Southern California. The hitters will get a little bit of a helping wind in Anaheim, while it’s more of a cross-breeze in Cincinnati and San Diego.
Let’s dive in and take a look at a few of the best value plays from the 10 teams in the player pool this Saturday night.

The probable pitchers on Saturday night include an interesting mix of veterans and young options. One of my favorite values on the board is the Angels’ 22-year-old righty Walbert Urena, who will be making his seventh start of the season.
After pitching out of the bullpen twice in March, Urena went to the minors and stretched out, returning in mid-April with six innings of two-run work against the Padres. He’s only 1-3 in his six starts, but he has a 2.86 ERA and 3.76 FIP while racking up 28 strikeouts in 31 2/3 innings as a starter.
He’s averaged 14.7 FPTS per start and has at least 17 FPTS in three of his six outings. He worked six shutout innings against the A’s in his last start, which was at home, where he has averaged 19 FPTS per game this season.
If he gets near 20 FPTS again on Saturday, he’ll provide great value, and he’ll be in a good spot to do it against the banged-up Rangers lineup that will be without several key bats, including Corey Seager (back) and Wyatt Langford (forearm), who remain on the injured list.
Sheets is still very affordable at only $3,000 for this home matchup against J.T. Ginn ($8,000) and the Athletics. Sheets typically hits in the heart of the order for the Padres against righties like Ginn and comes into Saturday night’s matchup on a hot streak.
Over his last 10 games, Sheets is 12-for-28 (.429) with a double, four homers, 10 RBI and a .602 wOBA, averaging 12.3 FPTS per game across that span. Plus, he’ll be on the strong side of the splits against Ginn, who has let lefties hit .233 with a .329 wOBA against him this season, although most of his struggles have been at home at Sutter Health Park. The Padres will look to get to him on Saturday at Petco, and given his excellent form, Sheets will be a big part of their game plan. He can slot into either a 1B or OF spot in your DraftKings lineup, so his versatility makes him easier to fit into roster builds.
I highlighted the Cards in their favorable matchup against the Reds and Chase Petty ($6,500) in my top stacks for the day. Torres could be a great play at his minimum salary as he looks to make a splash in his MLB debut. The 28-year-old lefty brings plenty of speed upside after stealing 33 bases in 2024 in Double-A, 26 stolen bases in 2025 in Triple-A, and 10 bases in 36 games before his promotion this year.
Torres isn’t just pure speed, though, and has shown good contact and a little pop this season with the Memphis Redbirds. He hit .328 with nine homers and a .413 wOBA in a full year of Triple-A last year, and he’s currently at .336 with two homers and a .424 wOBA so far this season.
With Nathan Church (shoulder) on the IL and Lars Nootbaar (heels) not back for about another week, Torres should have a window of opportunity to prove himself in the Cardinals outfield, and he doesn’t have to do much to be worth his $2,000 salary, providing flexibility to spend big at other spots in your lineup.
