The Indiana Fever will always be a must-watch team with their star-studded lineup, but they’re just 1-2 through the first three games. They’ll face the Storm, who are also 1-2, in Indiana on Sunday.

Contrary to the early-season struggles, the Fever are title contenders this season. They out-performed expectations last year after Caitlin Clark suffered a season-ending injury, but the superstar is back. She’s averaging 25.3 points and 8.0 assists in 33 minutes per game, but her 5.0 turnovers per game continue to be her biggest weakness.

It’s not single-handedly costing Indiana games, but it’s certainly not helping the team either. Both of the losses thus far have been one-possession games, with the most recent loss coming in overtime. Clark had 32 points, including the game-tying three at the end of regulation. That said, she shot 10-28 from the field with four turnovers. Kelsey Mitchell added 25 points but was also inefficient with 10-25 shooting and three turnovers.

If the Fever expect to compete with the titans of the WNBA, they’ll need to become more efficient. Clark and Mitchell are a lethal 1-2 combo with Aliyah Boston leading the interior defense. Had one or two possessions gone differently, this team would be 3-0 and discussed as legit contenders. Instead, they have the same record as the rebuilding Storm.

Seattle will play its third consecutive road game but hasn’t played since Wednesday. Rest will be on the Storm’s side as the Fever played an overtime game on Friday. The Storm are headlined by Dominique Malonga, who is averaging 16 points and 7.3 rebounds across 26.7 minutes per game. She won’t be playing in this contest, however, as she suffered a concussion.

That sets the Storm back quite a bit, putting the game spread at 10.5 points. Had Malonga played, I could see the Storm covering +10.5, but it’ll be an uphill battle without her. The roster is thin now that Skylar Diggins is playing for the Sky.

Since the Fever aren’t dominating teams, this could’ve been a fun game to watch. But Malonga is sidelined, so that ruins it. Sure, the Storm could still cover the spread, but it’s unlikely now. The Fever should get their first signature win in the 2026 season.
