Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is set to air its finale this week, serving as a culmination to the Mayor Kingpin arc and a table-setter for the Defenders reunion in Season 3. Sam Connon breaks down everything you need to know before Episode 8 of the MCU revival series hits Disney+.
After nearly two months of buildup, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is coming to a close. The action and legal drama both reached a fever pitch last week, to say nothing of a massive character death that could wind up being the first of many.
If you are ready to see how the conclusion of Season 2 ties into the rest of the MCU, here is everything you need to know ahead of Episode 8:
Episode 8 will premiere on Disney+ at 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday, May 5. The episode, which is titled The Southern Cross, is expected to have a runtime between 50 and 60 minutes.
The second season will consist of eight episodes, compared to the nine-episode first season and the three 13-episode Netflix seasons from the previous era. That makes Episode 8 the season finale, although The Punisher: One Last Kill special presentation is coming on May 12.
(Warning: Spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Episode 7 ahead.)
Now that another character is off the board, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is down a subplot and prepared to leave it all out there for the finale. There is a Season 3 coming up in 2027, though, which could mean more hints towards additional crossovers with the defunct Netflix side of the MCU. All of that being said, here is a look at who is expected to pop up in Season 2 Episode 8:
Daredevil just got shot by the Anti-Vigilante Task Force – and not even in-costume, either. The AVTF targeted Matt Murdock and his co-counsel, Kirsten, after day one of Karen’s trial. It’s difficult to tell where the three-headed tribunal is leaning in the jury-less case, or if the trial will even resume as planned following the shootout in the parking garage.
Jessica Jones is back to help Matt, meeting up with her fellow superhero at Clinton Church. Mr. Charles tipping Jessica off about Kingpin’s plans to take out the Governor led to Bullseye saving the top New York politician, who was looking to remove Fisk from office. Daredevil, Jessica and Bullseye could team up to finish off Fisk if the Governor fails to do so, or if Karen’s trial goes the wrong direction. We know from leaked Season 3 set photos that Luke Cage and Iron Fist are set to join the cast eventually, but Mr. Charles confirming that Luke was overseas working for the CIA means that he probably won’t join the fight just yet.
Kingpin already lost Vanessa, and now he is down a previously dedicated ally in Daniel Blake. Buck Cashman could be wavering, too, after the warning Daniel gave him, not to mention Cole North’s own hesitation in the AVTF. Outside of Powell, an unstable Heather and a bunch of faceless goons, Kingpin is pretty lonely. Maybe that means he won’t hold back when push comes to shove, since he doesn’t have much to lose outside of his position as mayor.
Here is the trailer for the second half of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, which still features a few scenes we haven’t seen yet:
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Episode 8 will premiere on Tuesday, May 5, at 9 p.m. ET.
Season 2 is available to stream on Disney+. Season 1 is also on Disney+ if you are looking to catch up, in addition to the three seasons of the original Daredevil show that initially aired on Netflix.
Marvel Studios confirmed in September 2025 that production for Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 would start in early 2026. Filming began in March. The third season of the revival is expected to come out in March 2027.
