United States vs. Australia Tracker: Live Updates, Stats,...
DK.Network.Editors · 2026-06-20 · via DraftKings Network

DraftKings Network tracks the Group D match between the United States and Australia, providing live updates, odds, and stats.

One of the co-hosts of the 2026 World Cup, Mexico, did its job on Thursday evening, beating South Korea to clinch Group A. Now, it’s the United States’ turn; if Paraguay and Turkey draw later in the day, the winner of its 12 p.m. ET (9 a.m. local) match against Australia will claim Group D. Given the stakes and the raucous home atmosphere at Seattle Stadium, it’s arguably the most important game in the Stars and Stripes’ history. It’d be the United States’ first time topping its group since 2010 and the Socceroos’ first time ever.

Throughout the tournament, DraftKings Network will be tracking every marquee matchup, covering every big chance and, of course, every goal. Here’s how the United States vs. Australia went down.

United States vs. Australia odds

The Stars and Stripes are -160 favorites at DraftKings Sportsbook, and the Socceroos are +425. There are +320 odds that the teams will split the points.

Tracking United States vs. Australia

Follow along as DK Network tracks the United States vs. Australia match! This section will be updated.

FT: AND IT’S OFFICIAL! THE STARS AND STRIPES ARE THROUGH TO THE KNOCKOUT STAGES! IF THE ALBIRROJA TAKE ANY POINTS AGAINST TURKEY, THE UNITED STATES WILL WIN GROUP D! WHAT AN EFFORT FROM MAURICIO POCHETTINO AND THESE MEN! FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, THE USMNT CLINCHES QUALIFICATION IN ITS SECOND MATCH.

90’+6: Now Mauricio Pochettino will make his final substitutions, pulling Folarin Balogun and Weston McKennie in favor of Haji Wright and Gio Reyna. I’m not sure either of them will get a touch, but it’s an opportunity for two of the United States’ best players to get a curtain call.

90’+3: Now, Chris Richards has picked up a yellow card after holding back Nestory Irankunda on the run. Again, if the Stars and Stripes secure Group D today, it’s almost a guarantee that he’ll sit against Turkey.

89′: Double yellow cards for Harry Souttar and Folarin Balogun after they got tangled in a wrestling match. If Turkey drops points later today, I’d certainly expect that the United States will sit Balogun to avoid risking a suspension for the Round of 32. Jacob Italiano also picked up a yellow in the fracas.

85′: Australia has been putting a ton of pressure on the Stars and Stripes’ goal over the last few minutes! Harry Souttar whiffed what could’ve been an easy shot from just a few yards away! This match could’ve turned if it had found the back of the net!

80′: And now there are substitutions for the United States. Antonee Robinson and Sergiño Dest have come off, and Auston Trusty and Joe Scally have come on. It’s the World Cup debut for both men!

78′: Australia has had almost all the momentum in the last few minutes, and now Jackson Irvine will come on for the Socceroos.

74′: Mauricio Pochettino makes his first substitution, taking Ricardo Pepi off for Sebastian Berhalter and shifting to a more defensive look.

71′: Still no substitutions for the United States coming out of the hydration break.

65′: A turnover deep in Australian territory gave Connor Metcalfe an opportunity from the top of the box, but it was caught by Matt Freese on a dive. It’s his second save of the game!

64′: It’s hard to be too critical of Folarin Balogun’s performance, given that he was the primary creator of the Stars and Stripes’ opening goal, but he’s had a couple of opportunities on goal that could’ve turned into goals had he controlled it better.

62′: There goes that man!! Nestory Irankunda got free down the right side, putting Australia in a dangerous position! He centered it back to Cristian Volpato, who’d just come on for Matthew Leckie, but he blasted it over the bar. Still, one of the better chances of the game for the Socceroos so far!

56′: That’s a yellow card for Antonee Robinson after he stuck a foot out to trip Jacob Italiano.

51′: Balogun made a run from all the way in his own half and he was free on goal! He slowed down while looking for the shot, and Circati managed to recover enough to block it. Balogun definitely should’ve squared that one away had he not slowed down.

46′: WE’RE BACK! Three changes for the Socceroos, as Nestory Irankunda and Connor Metcalfe (their two goal scorers against Turkey) sub on!

HT: The United States almost made it three! Sergiño Dest ripped off a left-footed shot that Patrick Beach just got to with a dive. The referee blows for halftime, and it’s 2-0! -4000 odds for the Stars and Stripes, +4500 for Australia, and +1800 for a draw. What a half from the United States!

45′: NEVER MIND THAT. IT’S A GOAL! THE UNITED STATES LEADS 2-0!! THE STARS AND STRIPES CAN TASTE THE KNOCKOUTS!!!

44′: AN OFFSIDES CALL AGAINST ALEX FREEMAN NEGATES A UNITED STATES GOAL! Sergiño Dest won a free kick, and Antonee Robinson played the indirect free kick back to him at the top of the box. His shot popped up after a deflection from an Australian defender, and Freeman headed it in, but the flag went up.

39′: Oof. Both Alex Freeman and Paul Okon-Engstler are down after head-to-head contact, and the medical staffs have come out. Both players seem okay, but head-to-head contact is never a sight anyone wants to see.

32′: The Socceroos earned themselves another card after Alessandro Circati brought down Malik Tillman near the edge of the box! The ensuing free kick didn’t result in anything, but Australia remains on the back foot, and Circati’s indiscipline won’t help.

24′: The best opportunity of the match for Australia since the opening minute! It was centered into Nishan Vilupillay, but Chris Richards got to it with an outstretched foot to result in a corner.

22′: Mauricio Pochettino’s high press has worked wonders so far. Australia has hardly possessed the ball in opposing territory. Just now, another mistake by the Socceroos gave Balogun a look on the left side of the box, and though it was immediately blocked, these are the sorts of opportunities the United States needs to keep creating.

16′: This game has been very physical so far, and Jordy Bos has earned the first card of the game, bringing down Weston McKennie on the right wing. The Australian midfielder will have to be very careful for the remainder of the game, lest his team go down to 10.

11′: GOAL, GOAL, GOAL, GOAL, GOAL, UNITED STATES!!! A beautiful solo run down the left wing by Folarin Balogun creates chaos at the back, and he centers it into the middle towards Ricardo Pepi, where it’s parried into the back of the net by Australia’s Cameron Burgess for an own goal! It’s the second consecutive USMNT match that’s started with an own goal created by some brilliance from a Stars and Stripes attacker! COULD GROUP D BE WON BY THE HOSTS?!

8′: Jacob Italiano catches Tyler Adams’ leg, and the United States isn’t happy that the challenge didn’t result in a card. Adams appears to be fine.

6′: The United States is wrestling back some momentum, as Weston McKennie sent in a cross that both Ricardo Pepi and Folarin Balogun were close to. It fell harmlessly to the turf, but that’s the best sequence for the Stars and Stripes so far.

1′: Already a shot on goal for Australia! Mo Touré intercepted a sloppy Alex Freeman pass and fired a low effort from the right side of the box that Matt Freese had no trouble with.

1′: We’re live here in Seattle! Australia (+320 ML) starts with possession. The Socceroos are wearing all yellow.
