Charlie Cummings gives his best bet on DraftKings Sportsbook for Sunday’s Premier League match between Liverpool and Brentford.
With our midweek matches out of the way, the picture for Championship Sunday is clear. Liverpool won’t be defending their title, but they do have to work to secure their Champions League place. Brentford are also hoping Matchweek 38 ends with the squad in a European position. Who is going to get their way?
Liverpool are -135 moneyline favorites for this one on DraftKings Sportsbook, with a draw available at +310. If you’re keen on an upset, Brentford is priced at +295.
Liverpool had a bit of a scare on Tuesday. Sitting at 59 points, they are holding on to the last Champions League spot. Only Bournemouth could snatch away their UCL berth, and they threatened to shock the world by beating Manchester City on Tuesday afternoon. Leading right up until the death, they conceded an equalizer to Erling Haaland. It didn’t mean much to Man City, but it put Bournemouth three points behind Liverpool instead of one. That could make all the difference for both clubs.
Now the formula is simple for Liverpool: get points out of this game, and you’re in. They’d probably be safe even with a loss; Bournemouth are six goals behind on goal difference, meaning they’d only jump Liverpool in the standings with a big win and a devastating Liverpool loss. Still, they won’t want to leave anything to chance, especially ahead of such a crucial summer.
It’s going to be an emotional Sunday: Mohamed Salah’s last match at Anfield will bring out all the feelings. Not only will there be sadness, but there’s likely to be some anger; the rift between Salah and manager Arne Slot isn’t exactly private. Key players on the team seemingly taking Salah’s side only adds fuel to the fire. It’s not out of the question to think that emotions could boil over on the pitch and significantly affect the result.
Anything less than a win for Brentford on Sunday would hurt. Chelsea’s win over Tottenham on Tuesday threw the race for the last two European spots into chaos. Here’s a look at 7-10 in the table after our midweek chaos:

Brighton is in the driver’s seat for the UEFA Europa League spot, but if it can’t get a win against Manchester United, things start to get tricky. Sunderland and Chelsea are playing one another; if they split the points or Sunderland wins, and Brighton loses, Brentford can jump all the way into Europa. It’s safe to say they’ll want to put their best foot forward on Sunday.
For Brentford, success usually comes from their attack. Igor Thiago has been one of the breakout stars of the season, all but guaranteed to finish second in the Golden Boot race. They’re getting great attacking play on the outside from Mikkel Damsgaard and Dango Ouattara. European football or no, reinforcements are coming to this back line in the summer, setting them up well to compete in 2026-27.
Both sides should be in a pitched up-and-down battle. With Brentford keen on a win more than anything, they’ll be willing to open up and push the ball, which in turn exposes them to counterattacks. Even at the high total, I love the potential for a high-scoring affair.
