Cooper Albers provides his top Yordan Alvarez prop bet for Monday’s MLB game between the Astros and the Blue Jays.
American League foes collide on Monday night, as the Houston Astros and Toronto Blue Jays open a three-game series at Rogers Centre.
The Astros (37–42, 4th AL West) and the Blue Jays (38–39, 3rd AL East) have both won four of their last five games. But only the former has the AL MVP frontrunner: Yordan Alvarez.
First pitch is at 7:07 p.m. ET. The Blue Jays enter as 1.5-run home favorites with -131 moneyline odds on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Astros are +108 underdogs, with the game total set at O/U 7 runs.
Let’s dive into the top Yordan Alvarez prop bet for Monday’s series opener.
What Yordan Alvarez has done to opposing pitchers this season borders on bullying. Houston’s star outfielder crushed his American League-leading 25th home run on Sunday, and he heads into this week hitting .322 with a 1.068 OPS and 56 RBIs through 78 games.
Miraculously, the 28-year-old Alvarez has taken his bat-to-ball skills to another level this month, flirting with a .400 batting average since the beginning of June. It’s also worth noting that the former World Series champ has consistently looked at home within the Canadian confines of Rogers Centre.
But on Monday, Alvarez faces a tall task in Toronto’s Dylan Cease, a matchup he has historically struggled in. The lefty slugger is just 2-for-18 with one RBI and eight strikeouts in past meetings with the star right-hander.
Even so, a locked-in Alvarez is a nightmare matchup for whoever’s on the mound. With the way that he’s swinging the bat — actively challenging for the AL triple crown, that is — it seems silly to count out Alvarez to record at least two combined hits, runs, and RBIs in Monday’s series opener against the Blue Jays.
