Alex Hunter details his top make the cut parlay on DraftKings Sportsbook for THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch.
For the sixth straight year, THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson will be played at TPC Craig Ranch (par 71, 7,385 yards, bentgrass greens) in McKinney, Texas. A year ago, Scottie Scheffler (-31) won this event by eight shots. This week’s field comprises 147 players, and there will be a top-65 and ties cut after the first two rounds.
Below, I have featured a cut parlay to consider for the CJ CUP Byron Nelson.
Parry has been super reliable, missing only one cut in his last 20 starts worldwide. The outlier came all the way back in October of last year. This will be the Englishman’s debut at TPC Craig Ranch, but in his first two starts in the Lone Star State last month, Parry finished T48th at the Houston Open and T14th at the Valero Texas Open. Parry ranks 30th in SG APP this season, and his strong iron play should lead him to a made cut at TPC Craig Ranch. Scheffler led the field in SG APP during his dominant win at TPC Craig Ranch last season, and three of the five victors at this course have finished the week in the top three in SG APP.
Hubbard should be favored by much more than -134 to make the cut this week. The veteran has never missed a cut at TPC Craig Ranch in four tries, most notably posting a T5 last season. Hubbard shot a 6-under 65 twice at this course a year ago, and he has posted that score five times at TPC Craig Ranch. In addition to the great history at this venue, Hubbard has made two of his last three cuts. He nearly secured his first PGA TOUR win in his last start, finishing runner-up by one shot at the Myrtle Beach Classic. Following this outing — which ties his best career finish on the PGA TOUR — Hubbard is a safe bet to make the cut at TPC Craig Ranch.
Merritt is the main risk of this parlay and the key to making this parlay’s odds so juicy. While Merritt rarely finishes high on leaderboards anymore, the 40-year-old has advanced to the weekend in 10 of his last 13 solo starts between the PGA TOUR, Korn Ferry Tour, and DP World TOUR. Now, Merritt heads to TPC Craig Ranch, a course where he has flourished in the past. In three starts at this par 71, Merritt has finished T7th, MC, and T9th. During that final T9 finish in 2024, Merritt posted a 9-under 62 in the second round, which was the low score of the event and one stroke short of Merritt’s career low. The veteran has shot 67 or lower in six of 10 rounds at TPC Craig Ranch and should be able to grind out a made cut at this venue he loves.
