Eury Perez is starting for the Marlins in his age-23 season. The young right-hander is coming off a 6.1-inning performance in which he allowed two hits, one earned run (solo home run) and zero walks. The other four starts in May haven’t been as tidy. He allowed five, five, three, and two earned runs in those outings.

The season is still young, but players are beginning to form a decent sample size. Perez’s 4.91 ERA across 58.2 innings isn’t pretty, while Gausman’s 3.23 over 64 frames is much, much cleaner.
