Stan Son takes a look at the opening odds for Game 5 between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs in the 2026 NBA Finals.
The New York Knicks entered the 2026 NBA Finals on a blistering 11-game win streak. After they won the first two games of the series, Knicks fans were thinking sweep. And why not? The offense remained unstoppable while the defense suffocated the San Antonio Spurs.
But the Spurs settled down in Game 3, impressively quieting the raucous MSG crowd with the 115-111 victory. Instead of the roof of MSG getting blown into space from the euphoria of being on the brink of an NBA championship, the young Spurs collectively performed “The Silencer” to make LeBron James proud.
In Game 4, the Spurs continued to stymie the Knicks offense with physicality and berserker-esque rotations, while the offense blistered the nets, shooting 60% in the first half and going into the locker room up 76-49.
The Knicks didn’t go out like chumps, though it looked that way early in the third quarter. The lead swelled to 29 points, but New York showed heart and cut the deficit to 15 points heading into the final period. The MSG crowd was listless for most of the night, but everyone was hooting and hollering on their feet by the end.
Then the party started. The Spurs went cold while the Brunson Burner was turned up to the max. That 29-point deficit was whittled down to four points with three minutes left in the game. There were flashes of the Lakers coming back against the Trail Blazers during the 2000 playoffs.
The lead went down to one point with 1:43 then….
Jalen Brunson does what Jalen Brunson do:
That wasn’t even the highlight of the night. Moments later, OG Anunoby tipped in a Brunson miss to complete the greatest comeback in NBA Finals history!
An incredible win for the Knicks, but a gut-wrenching loss for the Spurs. How will they respond? San Antonio has been resilient all playoffs long and will be returning to the friendly confines of Frost Bank Center.
With the matchup set, DraftKings Sportsbook has listed opening odds for Game 5 of this series, which takes place Saturday, June 13, at 8:30 p.m. ET.
The Spurs enter as 5.5-point favorites with -218 moneyline odds. The Knicks are +180 underdogs, with the game total set at 216.5 points.
