Football is only a few months away, and regular season schedule release day is a checkpoint toward the glorious Sunday watch parties with friends and families. Week 1 is unique in that the season kicks off with a Wednesday night Super Bowl rematch.

Sunday, however, features a typical full slate. The Falcons and Steelers will be one of the eight 1 p.m. ET games. Opening odds for this matchup are live, and it’s never too early to take a look.

The Steelers open as 3-point favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Falcons are +145 underdogs, with the total set at 42.5.

There was optimism heading into the 2025 season down in Hotlanta, as the offense looked to be steaming with Michael Penix Jr., Bijan Robinson, Drake London and Kyle Pitts manning the skill positions. Unfortunately, Penix only played nine games due to injury and the Falcons ended the season at 8-9. Entering the 2026 campaign, the Falcons made significant changes to the coaching staff, hiring Kevin Stefanski as head coach, making Tommy Rees offensive coordinator and bringing in Bill Callahan to guide the offensive line. The defense will continue to be led by Jeff Ulbrich, who did a decent job leading the unit to 14th in EPA per dropback and second in sacks. The run defense was only 22nd in EPA per carry, though.

Will he or won’t he? Our national Aaron Rodgers nightmare continues as he has yet to make a decision on his status for 2026. At least Pittsburgh has Will Howard at quarterback. Unfortunately, he is currently below Mason Rudolph. Brrrrr, the chills. It’s a new era in Pittsburgh, as Mike McCarthy replaces Mike Tomlin, who led the Steelers for 19 seasons. Brian Angelichio is the new offensive coordinator. From a personal perspective, Pittsburgh bolstered the wide receiver group with the acquisition of Michael Pittman Jr. Rico Dowdle was brought in to presumably back up Jaylen Warren at running back. Pittsburgh won the AFC North last season with a 10-7 record. The defense was solid, finishing sixth in EPA per carry but only 17th in EPA per dropback. The 48 sacks were the fifth-most. Whether Pittsburgh fights for the division crown will depend on the status of Aaron Rodgers.
