Among defensemen this postseason, Dahlin ranks third in shots per game and second in shot attempts per game. Montreal has allowed the fifth-most shots per game to opposing defensemen thus far, with Darren Raddysh of the Lightning leading all defensemen in shots and shot attempts. I’d expect the same type of production from Dahlin, with consistent shots from the point as Montreal tries to take away high-quality chances from Buffalo’s strong forwards. Dahlin has cleared 3+ SOG in six of his past eight home meetings against the Canadiens.
Suzuki has notched at least one point in five of seven games this postseason, and he has found a ton of success against the Sabres in the past. The 26-year-old has recorded 1+ points in each of his last eight meetings against Buffalo, and that includes five two-point games and two four-point games. Suzuki simply shows up when he faces the Sabres, and he has cleared this line in each of his past five outings at the KeyBank Center, as well. I’d expect this series to be low-scoring, but Buffalo struggled to limit Boston’s first line in the first round, and Montreal’s first line is much better.
Barbashev has been very consistent this postseason, notching a point in all seven games thus far. Plus, he has found success against this Ducks team, clearing in each of his past four meetings against them. Barbashev has been the Golden Knights’ main source of 5v5 production this postseason, with six of his seven points coming while playing at 5v5. Vegas will need that to continue, considering the club is just 4-for-22 on the power play thus far. Barbashev has logged first-line minutes and plays with the second power play unit, too, so the opportunities will be there to extend his point streak to eight games.
