Cooper Albers breaks down the top player prop bets for Thursday’s NBA playoff Game 3 between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Toronto Raptors.
Playoff basketball returns to the Great White North Thursday night, as the Toronto Raptors host the Cleveland Cavaliers for Game 3 of their first-round playoff series at Scotiabank Arena.
The Cavaliers took care of business at home, jumping out to a 2–0 lead as the best-of-seven series shifts to Toronto for Games 3 and 4.
Tipoff is set for 8:10 p.m. ET. Cleveland enters as a 2.5-point road favorite with -148 moneyline odds on DraftKings Sportsbook. Toronto sits as a +124 underdog, with the game total set at O/U 221.5 points.
Let’s dig into the top player prop bets for Thursday’s playoff showdown between the Cavaliers and the Raptors.
The Raptors are still scrambling for an answer for Cleveland’s Donovan Mitchell. The superstar guard reached 30 points in both Games 1 and 2, shooting a blistering 55.8% from the floor and 47.1% from downtown. And judging by his playoff history, Mitchell looks poised to clear 28 points once again Thursday night in Toronto.
The seven-time All-Star, 29, has averaged 28.4 points across 65 career playoff games — a mark that swells to 29.7 over the last three seasons (21 games). Mitchell has scored at least 28 points in six of his last seven postseason appearances, highlighted by a pair of 40-pieces against last year’s eventual Eastern Conference champion Pacers.
Sandro Mamukelashvili has stepped into an elevated role in his first season with the Raptors — and he’s making the most of it in the playoffs. Playing roughly 20 minutes per contest, the 6-foot-9 forward pulled down eight rebounds against the Cavaliers on Saturday before grabbing ten boards for a 12-point double-double on Monday.
Mamukelashvili, 26, averaged 4.9 rebounds across 80 games during the regular season, recording at least six boards in 32 of them. He accomplished the feat in two of three matchups with Cleveland, falling just one rebound shy in his lone miss. Expect him to continue controlling the glass at home on Thursday.
Cleveland took a massive swing at the trade deadline, acquiring superstar guard James Harden in an effort to bolster its playoff push. So far, that gamble has paid off handsomely.
The former MVP, 36, has averaged 25 points and seven assists across Games 1 and 2, making the Raptors pay from beyond the arc. Harden — who finished the regular season averaging 3.1 made triples with 43.5% accuracy in Cleveland — has buried seven total treys at a scorching 46.7% clip in the playoffs.
Count on the NBA’s all-time runner-up in made threes to stay hot from deep in Game 3. While the Raptors successfully defended the long ball during the regular season, their perimeter coverage has been nonexistent in the playoffs. Cleveland has shot north of 40% from distance, and its 29 total triples are tied with the Celtics for the playoff lead.
