Zach Thompson details his top strikeout props for Sunday’s MLB slate, including bets for Roki Sasaki, Cody Bolton and Tanner Bibee
Saturday is another jam-packed day for Major League Baseball with all 30 teams continuing their weekend series. A few aces are back on the mound this Saturday night, but for the most part, we’re towards the back end of most teams’ third turn through the rotation. With more data available on both the starting pitchers and the lineups they’re facing, let’s take a look at the slate on tap for Saturday and pick out a few strikeout props that make sense to attack on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Taking a look at the strikeout props on the board on DraftKings Sportsbook for Saturday matchups, my three favorite plays are from Michael Wacha, Parker Messick and Jack Leiter.
In his move back to the rotation, Sasaki hasn’t been the most efficient starting pitcher for the Dodgers this season. He has only worked a total of nine innings in his two starts, throwing 78 and 90 pitches against the Guardians and Nationals. He has a 7.00 ERA and 5.67 FIP, but he has been able to pick up nine strikeouts in nine innings.
Sasaki has good strikeout potential on Sunday afternoon as he takes on the Rangers, who have the seventh-highest K% in the majors this season and averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game. Sasaki is averaging exactly one strikeout per inning, while the Rangers are slightly over that average. He will look to limit the damage more in his third outing of the year, and whether he does or not, he should be able to pick up a handful of strikeouts or more.
The Astros give the ball to Cody Bolton for his second MLB start on Sunday afternoon in Seattle. Bolton will be facing his former team, since he pitched 17 games for the Mariners back in 2024 with a 4.34 ERA and 4.88 FIP out of the bullpen. After spending parts of the last three years with three different teams, the journeyman has looked strong in his first two games for the Astros. In his 7 1/3 innings, Bolton has 10 strikeouts.
He pitched out of the bullpen against the Red Sox in his first game of the season, working three innings and striking out five to earn a save. He started his next outing, working 4 1/3 innings in Colorado and allowing two runs while picking up five more strikeouts.
With five strikeouts in each of his first two games, he has a good chance to get to at least four strikeouts, especially against the Mariners, who have the fourth-highest K% in the MLB.
In the Sunday Night Baseball matchup, Bibee and the Guardians will take on the Braves. While Bibee has been very solid in the last two seasons for Cleveland, he’s 0-1 with a 3.29 ERA and 5.02 FIP in his first three starts out of the gate this year.
In his 13 2/3 innings, Bibee has 14 strikeouts, but he has been unable to get deep into the game, staying under this strikeout prop in each of his last two games against the Dodgers and the Royals. He only had four strikeouts in 4ouf innings in a loss to the Dodgers, and he only had three strikeouts in 4 2/3 against Kansas City. He hasn’t given up a lot of runs in those two outings, but he has been limited in his innings and his strikeouts.
The Braves have done a great job of mitigating strikeouts this season, with the fourth-lowest K% in the majors at 19.8%. They had five strikeouts against lefty Parker Messick on Saturday in 6 2/3 innings, so the bullpen should be ready to take over at the first sign of trouble for Bibee. With another shorter outing a strong possibility, Bibee’s under on strikeout props brings great value at plus money on Sunday night.
