Blake Krass breaks down the Season 8 premiere of Love Island USA, including who coupled up, broke up and which bombshells entered the villa.
Love Island USA is officially back! Season 8 kicked off with a great episode full of twists and turns. Ariana Madix brought in a crew of new islanders looking to find love. This first episode got everyone coupled up, and now the madness begins. Find out what happened on Love Island USA tonight as we provide a full recap of Tuesday’s episode.
The season premiere started with a bizarre choice that involved the whole cast doing a musical number like they were auditioning for Broadway, not for a chance to snog their fellow islanders. After that strange couple of minutes came to a close, the episode unfolded like any other Love Island premiere would. The girls, Aniya, Beatriz, Trinity, Kenzie and Melanie, entered the villa first. They shared some champagne and gossip before being joined by Love Island US host Ariana Madix.
The ladies were then joined by the men of the group, KC, Sean, Bryce, Zach and Sincere. The islanders took a few minutes to chat before they got into the first game of the season. The icebreaker allowed the islanders to see what they had in common with each other on a range of topics. Some were as simple as whether you were a dog or a cat person, while some were much more NSFW. Regardless of the innocence of the question, the islanders that matches the same answer got to share a kiss.
The 10 islanders coupled up the same way that they did last season on Love Island USA. The girls stood in front of the door of the guy that they wanted to couple up with. If one woman were there, those two automatically coupled up. If multiple girls were there, the guy got to choose who they wanted. If nobody picked that guy, he was left to pick from the group of girls rejected by the other men. Things started off easy with Trinity being the only girl who picked Bryce, coupling them up.
Similarly, things started off swimmingly for Sean, with Beatriz waiting behind his door. The premiere had its first tough twist when nobody was waiting behind the door for KC. That left him on the singles bench in the meantime. Sincere was the lucky beneficiary of that, as he had both Aniya and Melanie waiting behind his door. Sincere made the choice to couple up with Melanie instead of Aniya, creating our second heartbreak of the night. Finally, Kenzie was behind Zach’s door, waiting to couple up with this season’s token Brit.
Of all the couples, Trinity and Bryce seemed to hit it off the fastest, sharing a kiss after their first conversation. Meanwhile, Sincere and Melanie bonded over their fandom of the Philadelphia Eagles. Only time will tell if Ariana Madix shares the news of the A.J. Brown trade with them in the villa. KC and Aniya also ended up hitting it off on the first full day in the villa, despite Aniya not initially picking him. The one couple that did not click right away was Kenzie and Zach, as Zach revealed that Kenzie is not quite his type.
Just as the episode was wrapping up, Ariana Madix made one of her dramatic entrances into the villa. She stared directly into the camera like Jim Halpert if there was a storyline where he was trying to be a male model. However, she was arriving in the villa with some important news for the islanders. That they would be forced to make a massive decision that could shift the rest of their Love Island journeys. That decision was to stick with their current couple or to become single.
The first couple up was Beatriz and Sean, and Beatriz chose to twist, while Sean chose to stick. The second couple, Kenzie and Zach, was also not a match, as Zach chose to leave the couple. Bryce and Trinity both decided to become single, in a move that left everyone happy. The final two couples, Melanie and Sincere, and Aniya and KC, both decided to stick together.
A Love Island premiere would not be complete without the entrance of a bombshell. This time, there was not just one, but two bombshells entering the villa. Gabriel and Kayda were the new arrivals in the villa, one boy and one girl. They had the chance to have a cheeky kiss with each of those people who chose not to couple up. The episode ended with the bombshells whisking the singles away. In the next episode, we will see if those bombshells get a chance to couple up or if there will be a big group of singles for the next couple of days. As always, the Love Island season started with a bang, and it’s only up from here!
