A burgeoning fan-favorite from Daredevil: Born Again just met a swift end. Here’s a breakdown of how Season 2 Episode 7 played out, as well as what it means for the upcoming finale of the revived MCU show on Disney+.
Daredevil: Born Again hasn’t always been quite as gritty as the Netflix show it originated from, but the revival hasn’t pulled its punches, either. One of the more mature properties in the MCU has quite the body count, especially in the back half of Season 2.
If you need a breakdown of who died in the latest episode of Season 2, or are looking to get filled in on every major plot development in Daredevil: Born Again, we’ve got you covered.
(Warning: Spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, Episode 7 ahead.)
Daniel Blake had BB Urich over to his mother’s house for his birthday in Episode 6. Taking Buck Cashman’s advice to feed her false info and see if it leaked, Daniel told the young reporter than Fisk wouldn’t be seeking re-election. BB almost spread the rumor, but ultimately chose not to out of loyalty to Daniel, who she was starting to have feelings for. Still, Daniel found an SD card in BB’s jacket pocket and put together that she was behind the anti-Fisk propaganda videos.
After telling BB that their lives were at stake, Daniel convinced her that he would get them to a safe house. However, Daniel texted the address to Buck, who was going to be waiting for them there to presumably kill BB. Daniel even admitted to BB that he buried a body with Buck upstate, then said that no one alive could know that. But just as he was about to take her inside to meet Buck, Daniel had a change of heart and told her to run away. He went in to face Buck alone, refused to give up BB and promptly got beat to a pulp as a result.
Lying on the floor, Daniel tried to convince Buck not to kill him since he could very well be next. Regardless, Buck pulled the trigger and killed Daniel Blake. One of the most popular characters original to the Born Again era of the series – played by Michael Gandolfini, the son of TV royalty – is gone.
After the first day of Karen’s trial, Kingpin’s Anti-Vigilante Task Force ambushed Matt and Kirsten on their way out of the courthouse. The two lawyers had protection from Cherry, Angie Kim and the other police officers who aren’t on Fisk’s payroll. At least one member of their security detail got caught in the crossfire, while Matt caught a bullet himself.
A hobbled Matt made it to Clinton Church to pray. Jessica Jones also showed up, so there is at least someone there to tend to his wounds or get him to safety. This isn’t the first time Daredevil got shot, and it hasn’t killed him before. The titular character is banged up, but still kicking heading into the season finale.
If Mr. Charles fed Jessica Jones accurate information, then Kingpin is trying to kill Governor Marge McCaffrey before she can remove him from office. Bullseye saved the Governor from an assassin thanks to that intel, but that might not be the end of it. Jessica didn’t ditch town after all, either, so she will be around to see through the rest of the ongoing Kingpin-McCaffrey-Charles-Daredevil drama as well.
Karen is also still in prison, having taken beatings from both Kingpin and Heather. It remains to be seen if her trial will resume as planned, considering the failed hit Kingpin put out on her lawyers, or if the corrupt mayor will try to take matters into his own hands. Daredevil now has Bullseye and Jessica Jones on his side, while members of the AVTF like Cole North are starting to have doubts about Fisk themselves. And who knows, maybe the Punisher or the rest of the Defenders show up to save the day, although Luke Cage is seemingly overseas handling something else for the CIA.
Daniel Blake, Wilson Fisk’s deputy mayor of communications, died in the latest episode of Daredevil: Born Again. Kingpin’s go-to cleanup man, Buck Cashman, shot Daniel after he refused to give up BB Urich and where she went. Daniel was portrayed by Michael Gandolfini, the son of the late The Sopranos star James Gandolfini.
The eighth and final episode of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will premiere on Tuesday, May 5. The season has been running since its premiere on March 24, picking up a year after Season 1 of the revival.
Season 2 is available to stream on Disney+. Season 1 is also on Disney+ if you are looking to catch up, in addition to the three seasons of the original Daredevil show that initially aired on Netflix.
Marvel Studios confirmed in September 2025 that production for Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 would start in early 2026. Filming began in March. The third season of the revival is expected to come out in March 2027.
