Ryan Wohl details his best bets for Saturday’s UFC Fight Night headlined by Jack Della Maddalena vs. Carlos Prates.
Former UFC Welterweight Champion Jack Della Maddalena returns to his hometown of Perth, Western Australia, to face Carlos Prates in the Main Event of Saturday’s Fight Night. The Main Card has a special start time of 7:00 a.m. ET as Australia is 12 hours ahead.
Check out my best bets for this Saturday’s UFC Fight Night in Perth.
Della Maddalena lost his Welterweight title to Islam Makhachev in his last fight at UFC 322. That defeat snapped a previous 18-fight winning streak that Della Maddalena had. Prates also fought at UFC 322 and picked up the most significant victory of his career, knocking out former champion Leon Edwards. On DraftKings Sportsbook, Della Maddalena and Prates are both -110 to win this contest.
Even though Prates has tremendous power in his hands, the former champion is the all-around more advanced striker in this matchup. Prates has relied on his elite finishing ability, and it has worked against everyone but Ian Machado Garry in the UFC. JDM has the skills to slow Prates’ offensive attack, as he defends strikes at a 63 percent rate. Della Maddalena struggled on the ground against Makhachev, but that will not be an issue in this contest. Although Prates is an elite striker, he has been knockout dependent in the UFC. Also, the longer this fight lasts, the more it favors Della Maddalena.
Cam Rowston has won his first two UFC fights by knockout and is currently on a six-fight winning streak. Rowston trains at the legendary City Kickboxing gym, which is led by Eugene Bareman. City Kickboxing has produced multiple UFC Champions, including Israel Adesanya, Carlos Ulberg, and Alexander Volkanovski. Rowston is facing Robert Bryczek on the Prelims in a three-round Middleweight contest. Bryczek picked up his first UFC win in his last contest against Brad Tavares. In his last seven bouts, Bryczek is 6-1 with 6-1 with six knockouts.
In this contest, Rowston is a -170 favorite while Bryczek is the underdog at +142 on DraftKings Sportsbook. Even though Rowston’s last three wins have come by knockout, he also has six career submissions as he is a versatile fighter. In this contest, Rowston has the height (6’3″ vs. 6’0″) and reach (78″ vs. 75″) advantage. When Rowston is aggressive and brings the fight to his opponent, he is at his best. Since 13 of Rowston’s 14 career wins have come by finish, I’m taking him to beat Bryczek by KO/TKO/DQ or submission at +120.
