Zach Thompson dives into Saturday night’s seven-game MLB slate to find three value options for your DraftKings lineups.
It’s another beautiful Saturday slate of Major League Baseball, with seven games on the main DFS fantasy baseball slate, which begins at 7:05 p.m. ET. The nighttime matchups include three divisional contests and a pair of big series between potential playoff teams as the Yankees visit the Astros and the Cubs visit the Dodgers. The matchups have plenty of star power to consider as pay-up plays, but some strong MLB DFS value picks also stand out, since they offer major upside at lower salaries. If you need to go cheap at a spot or two to balance your spending, these values can definitely stretch your salary cap space while still bringing good upside themselves.
The weather for the evening games is a mixed bag with some colder games, some potential rain, and a few spots with favorable winds for hitters blowing out. Atlanta, Los Angeles and Kansas City have potential rain issues, but none looks especially awful. In Cincinnati, the forecast is clear with winds blowing out and temperatures in the 70s, setting up a nice offensive environment for the Tigers and Reds.
Let’s dive in and take a look at a few of the best value plays from the 14 teams in the player pool this Saturday night:

Of the probable pitchers for Saturday night, Weathers is my top value play. Normally, I try to go cheaper in this spot, but the bargain options are pretty shaky this Saturday and in tough spots due to matchups and potential weather delays. Weathers won’t have to worry about that, though, since he will be taking the mound indoors at Daikin Park. The Yankees’ 26-year-old lefty is 1-2 in his five starts this season, allowing 10 runs on 27 hits in 28 1/3 innings for a 3.18 ERA and 3.27 FIP. He has racked up 36 strikeouts in those 28 1/3 innings, though, which makes him a very valuable midrange play with an elite ceiling due to his strikeout potential.
Weathers showed off his upside with 32.9 FPTS against the Royals in his most recent start and has at least 17 FPTS in four of his five outings. He was away from the team this week on the paternity list but is expected to be ready to make his scheduled start against the Astros. Houston’s lineup has been very productive this season, but it has scored five runs or less in eight of its last nine games, so it’s not a must-avoid matchup. Weathers’ strikeout upside makes him a strong play, and he should get good run support as the Yankees look to extend their winning streak to eight games.
Gelof was a top prospect for the A’s when he arrived in the majors, but his bat has been disappointing in the last few seasons. He missed most of last year due to injury after hitting only .211 in 2024 while playing 138 games. His contact issues have kept him from being an everyday fantasy option, but he has a very strong skill set that could let him be an elite power/speed dual threat if he puts the ball in play.
He started this season at Triple-A, where he got off to a blistering start, hitting .366 with four homers, three stolen bases and a .539 wOBA in 11 games. Normally a 2B, he worked in the outfield to increase his versatility and now has a chance to step in as the everyday CF with Denzel Clarke (foot) on the injured list. The A’s also called up Colby Thomas ($3,000), who could be a good value while filling in. Gelof started in centerfield on Friday, though, and went 2-for-4 with a homer and 21 FPTS.
Overall, he’s 5-for-16 (.313) over his last six games with a homer, a double and a 50% hard-hit rate. Especially with lefty MacKenzie Gore ($8,600) on the hill for the Rangers on Saturday, Gelof will likely get another chance in the starting lineup, and with both power and speed potential, he brings a high ceiling with good versatility under $3,000. He makes sense as one of the best MLB DFS Value Picks since he has multiple ways to deliver big numbers.
Hinds has flashed upside during several stretches over the last few years, and it looks like the Reds are ready to give him their primary RF spot, although he did get Wednesday off. The 25-year-old righty hit .354 with five homers and a .520 wOBA in 13 games at Triple-A to start the year, and he has gone 4-for-28 (.143) but with three of those hits going for extra bases since his promotion.
Hinds had a double on Friday in his return to the lineup against the Tigers, but he also struck out three times. His 45.2% K% is startling, but when he does put the ball in play, he usually makes it count. He had a 50% hard-hit rate in Triple-A, matching his hard-hit rate from his limited time in the majors last year. This year, he hasn’t hit the ball quite as hard yet, but he does still have plenty of power potential. He and the Reds are in a good environment with the wind blowing out at Great American Ballpark as they take on Jack Flaherty ($7,800), who has a 3.47 ERA, 4.59 FIP and 44.3% hard-hit rate against him in his five starts this season.
