Switzerland vs. Canada prediction, pick for Wednesday 6/2...
Keagan Smith · 2026-06-24 · via DraftKings Network

Keagan Smith gives his best bet on DraftKings Sportsbook along with a prediction and pick for Wednesday’s FIFA World Cup match between Switzerland and Canada.

As the Group Stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup reaches its final weeks, we’re diving into each and every matchup to find value for bettors. On Wednesday afternoon, the winner of Group B will be decided as Canada faces off against Switzerland. Each of these sides have four points apiece, setting up a high-stakes race to the knockout rounds.

Kickoff for Switzerland vs. Canada is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24 at 3 p.m. ET in Vancouver. Let’s dive in for a top prediction and pick on DraftKings Sportsbook for this 2026 FIFA World Cup match.

Best bet for Switzerland vs. Canada

  • Switzerland ML: Both of these offenses have shown upside on the attack with plenty of shot volume in the World Cup thus far. However, Canada is dealing with a couple of key injuries that could leave them shorthanded with Ismael Kone done for the tournament and Alphonso Davies still TBD on a return date with a hamstring issue. They could be far from their peak and the Swiss look to dominate possession, so a bet on Switzerland feels like the safer option in terms of an outright winner.

Switzerland vs. Canada prediction, pick

Canada’s status in this World Cup is far from elite. However, the northernmost host nation isn’t one to entire write off, sitting 28th in the latest (unofficial) world rankings, per FIFA itself.

In five friendlies prior to the World Cup, Canada went 2-3-0 with draws against Iceland, Tunisia and Ireland, plus a 1-0 victory against Guatemala and a 2-0 win over Uzbekistan. It wasn’t a supremely difficult schedule, nor was it an impressive result prior to the international tournament. However, the Canadians started Group B play with a 1-1 draw to Bosnia and Herzegovina, a match in which they outmatched their opponent in shots, possession and pass accuracy while Cyle Larin connected on the equalizer late. It was followed by a 6-0 drubbing of Qatar that included five goals by way of Canadians and one own goal in their favor as well, generating a staggering 31 shots on the day. Led by star Jonathan David with three goals, they’ve largely looked impressive thus far. However, the injury suffered by Ismael Kone last game puts a damper on the midfield, and the status of Alphonso Davies looms large with the captain yet to debut in this tournament due to a hamstring ailment of his own.

Switzerland, meanwhile, is regarded as the slightly better side overall and sits 18th in FIFA’s world rankings.

The Swiss played three friendlies earlier this year, tying with Norway and Australia while downing Jordan 4-1. They did play far better football than both of their first two opponents in the Group Stage of the World Cup as well. While the opening fixture ended in a 1-1 draw with Qatar, they racked up 27 shots and dominated possession in that outing. Were it not for an own goal in the 94th minute, they’d have won the day thanks to Breel Embolo’s penalty shot earlier in the day. Switzerland then thrashed Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-1, once again winning possession at 62% on the day with a 13-4 edge in shots, including eight on target. The Swiss want to control the ball, leaning on Embolo as a primary attacker with Granit Xhaka as captain in the midfield and Ricardo Rodriguez in the back. Another key piece is goaltender Gregor Kobel, also a stable presence in the net with plenty of experience.

On DraftKings Sportsbook, Switzerland is a +135 favorite on the Moneyline. Conversely, Canada holds +240 odds to win outright. Bettors can also get a draw at +210 value.

Betting splits indicate that 53% of bets placed on a straight winner favor Canada, with 47% on Switzerland.

This should be a pretty competitive game, but it’s one that Switzerland should probably come out victorious in. The injuries to key Canadian pieces are certainly a problem for Les Rouges. There should be plenty of shot volume on both sides, but the Swiss should win out in possession and are at their best when in control of the ball. If they can simply run out the clock to an extent, then they can limit damage from the opposing side and probably take this game in hand. Sure, it’s something of a toss-up, but Switzerland is simply a little easier to trust in this spot.

Best Bet: Switzerland ML (+135)
