Blake Krass breaks down his first round leader picks and best bets for the 2026 Cadillac Championship at Doral.
Following a fun week of team golf in New Orleans, the next stop on the PGA TOUR calendar is the Cadillac Championship.
This is a look at the best first-round leader bets to make for the event on DraftKings Sportsbook.
This week marks the inaugural Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral. This is the newest stop on the PGA TOUR calendar and has been made a signature event. The Blue Monster course at Doral was a stop on the PGA TOUR for many years as the host of the Doral Open. It then hosted the WGC event, also under the name Cadillac Championship. However, this year is the debut of the new Cadillac Championship, which is a standard signature event format. While it is a fresh stop on the PGA TOUR calendar, many of the world’s top players are familiar with the course.
The Blue Monster is a par-72 course that ranges 7,739 yards. Since it is a signature event, there is a limited field and there will be no cut. The course requires length off the tee to deal with the long Par 4s. However, precision with the irons is also a must due to the swirling South Florida winds and various water hazards. Players who can dominate on long, difficult courses will excel here on the Blue Monster.
Cameron Young has become the real deal. For years, Young was a promising and exciting player who couldn’t quite get it done in the big moments. Last year, he shed that reputation by finally getting a win on the PGA TOUR at the Wyndham Championship. Young then performed brilliantly in the FedEx Cup to finish T4 at the TOUR Championship and was Team USA’s best player at the Ryder Cup. Young has carried that momentum into 2026 as he registered by far the biggest win of his career at THE PLAYERS. In addition to that win at THE PLAYERS, Young finished T7 at The Genesis, T3 at the API and T3 at the Masters.
Young’s game is a perfect fit for Doral. One of the closest comparisons to the Blue Monster is Bay Hill, where Cam Young had a brilliant T3 finish earlier this year. Young is an incredible driver of the golf ball, ranking second on the PGA TOUR in total driving this season. He has the length and accuracy to attack these long Par 4s and Par 5s. Young’s iron game has been the more impressive thing to watch this season, as he has always been great off the tee. Young also ranks second on the PGA TOUR in proximity this season. Young and Scottie Scheffler are on another level from the rest of this field. Scheffler has struggled in opening rounds this season and Young has much better odds, making him the best bet to lead after Thursday’s round.
Further down the odds boards, there is a lot of value on Adam Scott to be the first-round leader this week. Scott was one of the most consistent players on the PGA TOUR for many years, but he started to see a dip in form over the last couple of years. That is, until Scott re-found his form in 2026. Scott has made the cut at all eight events that he has played in this year. He had a great fourth-place finish at The Genesis and finished T11 at the API, playing well at a lot of the same venues as Cam Young has. Scott most recently turned in a solid T24 finish at the Masters before taking a couple of weeks off.
Scott is also incredibly experienced at Doral compared to other players in this field. Scott first played the Ford Championship at Doral all the way back in 2005. Aldrich Potgieter, who is competing in this year’s Cadillac Championship, was around six months old when Scott was competing at Doral in 2005, an event that Tiger Woods went on to win in epic fashion over Phil Mickelson on a Sunday for the ages. Scott has always played well at Doral, with six top-13 finishes in 11 starts. The last time the PGA Tour held an event on the Blue Monster was the 2016 WGC-Cadillac Championship, which Adam Scott won. Scott has a lot of great memories here at Doral and is playing really solid golf this season. If he rolls a few putts in, he has a real shot to lead after the opening round.
