Blake Krass takes you through his 2026 French Open best bets for Thursday 5/28 on both the men’s and women’s side.
The best players in the world are all at Roland-Garros for the 2026 French Open. It should be an incredible tournament in Paris on both the men’s and women’s sides.
These are my French Open best bets to target on DraftKings Sportsbook for Thursday.
There is an all-American matchup set for the second round of the French Open. Emma Navarro is set to take on 18-year-old phenom Iva Jovic. Navarro is fresh off her third career WTA title in Strasbourg. It was supposed to just be a good warm-up ahead of Roland-Garros for Navarro, but then she couldn’t stop winning. Navarro actually defeated Iva Jovic in the Round of 16. She eventually defeated the top-seeded Victoria Mboko in the final to claim her first career clay title.
Iva Jovic has burst onto the scene over the past 12 months. She was playing in her first-ever French Open at this time last year, but went on to win her first WTA title at just 17 years old in Mexico that September. Jovic proved she could compete at the highest level by making the Australian Open quarter-finals earlier this year. She has also proved herself on clay this year, making it to the Charleston semi-finals and the Round of 16 in Rome.
My best bet is for the Americans to push this match to three sets. Navarro and Jovic went to three sets in their first-ever meeting just a couple of weeks ago in Strasbourg. Navarro is red-hot at the moment, but Jovic has more raw talent. Those two factors should collide and result in this being a back-and-forth thriller.
This is another match that could end up going the distance. Hubert Hurkacz and Frances Tiafoe are two very experienced players who will not go down without a fight in a Grand Slam. Tiafoe is out of form and has not had a great clay season. However, he is still a top-25 player in the world with the potential to make a run in a major. Tiafoe was a quarter-finalist at Roland-Garros last year and will hope to go on another strong run this year.
Hubert Hurkacz is also out of form heading into this French Open. He was knocked out in the Round of 128 in Rome and in the Round of 64 in Madrid. Hurkacz does not have a great history at Roland-Garros and was knocked out in the first round last year. He has never been a strong clay player in general, with his three career ATP finals all coming on hardcourt.
While two aging players in poor form do not make for the most exciting matchup on paper, it should be a great battle between Hurkacz and Tiafoe. These two have met seven times over the years, with Tiafoe winning four matches and Hurkacz winning three. They are both players who prefer the hardcourt, and there shouldn’t be much to separate them here on clay. This match has a great chance to get to five sets and get comfortably over this game total.
