The MLB season is heating up. There are far more ways to get involved in the action than just via traditional betting. One of the more unique features on DraftKings this year is Pick6 Fantasy Baseball!
Here are my top Pick6 plays for today’s MLB slate.
Juan Soto has been red-hot over the past few weeks. He had already started the season strong, but he has gone to another level. Soto has been the best hitter in baseball against right-handed pitchers this season. Against righties, he has a .350 batting average and a 1.135 OPS. Soto should keep it going against Max Meyer and the Marlins today. Meyer has been solid this season, but Soto seems unstoppable at the moment. He has two hits in four of his past five games. Soto also has four home runs in his past four games. He is hitting at a high level for both power and contact. He has a great chance to put one over the wall against the Marlins, but he also has a great chance to record multiple hits. That makes him a very safe pick to record more than 1.5 total bases in this game.
Ezequiel Tovar should record a base hit tonight against Zac Gallen and the Diamondbacks. It has been another tough season for Gallen, who has a 4.78 ERA. This is the second season in a row where Gallen has an ERA over 4.75, and he seems to have lost the magic he once had. Gallen has been particularly bad against right-handed hitters. He is allowing a .292 batting average and an .836 OPS to opposing righties this season. Gallen has a 1.43 WHIP this season and has consistently given up too much contact.
Tovar should be able to take advantage of that. Tovar started the season very slowly, but he has caught fire over the last 15 days. Over that stretch, Tovar is batting .300 across 40 at-bats. Tovar has also gotten the best of Gallen in the past. He is 6-for-13 with three extra-base hits in his career against Gallen, equaling out to a 1.385 OPS. Tovar has at least one hit in eight of his past nine games and should keep that run going tonight.
Nathan Eovaldi is in the midst of his best season since 2021 when it comes to strikeouts. Eovaldi is averaging 9.1 K/9, which would be the fourth-best mark of his 15-year MLB career if sustained over the entire season. Tonight’s start against the Angels should be a chance for Eovaldi to boost those numbers even higher. No team in baseball has struck out more than the Angels this season. The Angels have a strikeout rate of 25.4%, the only team in baseball striking out in more than a quarter of their at-bats. Eovaldi is in incredible form over his last three starts. In those three outings, he has pitched a combined 22 innings and only given up one earned run. He has struck out at least seven batters in all three of those starts. Eovaldi should stay hot and strike out at least seven against the lineup that strikes out more than anyone in baseball.
