Bill Yin details his best NBA player prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for tonight’s Game 2 matchup between the Thunder and Lakers.
The Thunder will host the Lakers tonight for Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals. Austin Reaves will be available for the Lakers, but Luka Doncic remains out. The Thunder will continue to be without Jalen Williams.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, the Thunder are favored by 15.5 points and this game carries a total of 210.5 points.
Let’s dive into three of my favorite player prop bets for tonight’s Game 2 matchup.
James led all scorers in the Lakers’ Game 1 loss to OKC 90-108. He’ll continue pouring in the offense tonight against OKC; Chet Holmgren is an effective rim protector but he simply lacks the size and strength to contest James when he gets downhill near the basket. We saw this as well in Game 1, where LeBron shot 12/17 from the field, with only three of those makes being triples.
Additionally, if his teammates such as Marcus Smart and Austin Reaves both shoot anything near the 4/15 and 3/16 they shot in Game 1, things are looking dire for the Lakers, and James will have to do all he can to put points up on the board. This team is really hurting without Luka Doncic’s offense.
OKC completely locked up Reaves in Game 1, rendering him absolutely useless by crowding his dribble and forcing him into late clock shot attempts. It was an ugly 3/16 affair where he struggled to get into rhythm against the litany of pesky perimeter defenders OKC boasts.
I’m counting on these issues recurring tonight, especially since Reaves is still recently returning from an oblique strain. There should be some more streakiness in store for Reaves tonight, and asking him to find his groove again against one of the league’s best defenses on their home floor is a tall order.
This may feel a bit optimistic at first, given Kennard only attempted four shots in a whopping 29 minutes of play time in Game 1. He was overall a -14 in those minutes, unable to get stops defensively while also being a bit gun shy with the rock. A puzzling development given how hot Kennard came out of the gate into the postseason, torching the Rockets in the Lakers’ last series in the beginning of the matchup.
The Lakers need to find ways to get Kennard involved offensively. Not only did OKC concede a third-worst 14.2 threes per game in the regular season, but they’re also just stifling the Lakers in every other area besides LeBron James’ individual output.
