Odds: -105 | Opponent: San Diego Padres
Lucas Giolito is likely starting for the Padres tonight. It’s been a bumpy road for him through five starts, where he owns a 4.35 ERA with an xERA of 4.98 and a 6.40 FIP. Walks have been a major issue, as he’s issued 18 through 20.2 innings, giving him a 7.4 BB/9. The Cardinals can be a patient lineup, with multiple hitters posting a 9% BB% or higher. On paper, Giolito has had back-to-back decent starts, holding the Phillies and Reds to a combined three runs on eight hits through eight innings. However, he earned an xERA of 5.44 against the Phillies and 4.20 against the Reds, meaning the damage should have been worse. I believe the Cardinals will be able to get to him tonight in St. Louis.
Odds: +128 | Opponent: Houston Astros
I like this spot for Greene, who’ll take on Kai-Wei Teng in Houston. Teng has really poor numbers against lefties, owning a .384 wOBA with a 5.41 FIP and five of the six home runs he’s allowed. Lefties have also tagged him for a 43% hard-hit rate. Teng throws five pitches, but his primary pitch is a sweeper. That’s a pitch that Greene has handled very well dating back to last season. He owns a .539 wOBA with a .429 ISO off that pitch when thrown by a righty. This feels like a sneaky spot for Greene to record at least two total bases at +128.

Odds: +120 | Opponent: Tampa Bay Rays
Lauer has looked like a much different pitcher since being picked up by the Dodgers. Through three starts, he owns a 2.76 ERA and a .271 wOBA. His strikeout numbers aren’t overwhelming, with 5.5 K/9 since joining the Dodgers, but we don’t need a ton of strikeouts tonight. I like him to go over 3.5 against a Rays team that doesn’t perform well against lefties. Tonight’s expected lineup has a combined .253 wOBA, a .047 ISO, and a 19% K% against lefties. While the sample is small with the Dodgers, Lauer has gone over this prop in two of his three starts and five of his 11 total appearances this season.
