Ryan Wohl previews Saturday’s UFC 328 event, headlined by Khamzat Chimaev vs. Sean Strickland for the Middleweight Championship.
The UFC is back in Newark, New Jersey, for UFC 328. The UFC’s last appearance at the Prudential Center came in June 2025. One of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, Khamzat Chimaev, is defending his UFC Middleweight Championship against former title holder Sean Strickland in the Main Event. The second championship fight on this card is Joshua Van vs. Tatsuro Taira for the 125-pound title.
The bad blood between Chimaev and Strickland is as real as we have seen between opponents in many years. In a time when it is hard to find legit rivals, we finally have one. Both fighters are confident and not wavering in their talent. Chimaev is a once-in-a-generation talent. He has the ability to go on one of the most dominant championship runs that we have seen. Chimaev’s versatile skill set, combined with his fast pace, puts him a level above his opponents.
Since beating Israel Adesanya for the title at UFC 293, Strickland has gone 2-2 in his previous four fights. Strickland enters this fight off a knockout victory over Anthony Hernandez in February. Chimaev beat Dricus Du Plessis to win the Middleweight title in August 2025. His victory over DDP was one of the most dominant performances in a UFC championship fight.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Chimaev is a -500 favorite while the former champion is a +380 underdog. Even though he is a big underdog, Strickland is getting 63 percent of the handle, with 37 percent going to Chimaev. Meanwhile, Chimaev is receiving 65 percent of bets, as 35 percent are on Strickland.
Van beat Alexandre Pantoja for the Flyweight title at UFC 323 and looks to increase his winning streak to seven against Taira. Taria is coming off a win by knockout against Brandoin Moreno and is 18-1 with 14 finishes in his career. The challenger is a -162 favorite, while the champion is a +136 underdog. Vanis is getting 55 percent of bets and 53 percent of the handle in this contest. In this contest, 47 percent of the handle and 45 percent of bets are on Taira.
Cortes-Acosta is on a three-fight winning streak with three knockouts and has continued to work his way up the heavyweight rankings. His opponent, Volkov, is 5-1 in his previous six contests and last beat Jailton Almeida in October 2025. Volkov is a -130 favorite while Cortes-Acosta is a +110 underdog on DraftKings Sportsbook. In this bout, Volkov is getting 55 percent of the handle, as 45 percent is on Cortes-Acosta. 52 percent of bets are on Cortes-Acosta, while Volkov receives 48 percent.
