Zach Thompson gets you set for the Truist Championship this week with his top fantasy golf cash game picks on DraftKings.
The PGA TOUR is gearing up for the PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club next week, but before that, there’s one more Signature Event on the schedule. The top players in the game are headed to Charlotte to take on Quail Hollow Club for this year’s Truist Championship. Quail Hollow has been a regular stop on the PGA TOUR for many years, but last year, this tournament moved to Philadelphia since Quail Hollow hosted the 2025 PGA Championship. As you approach the second straight no-cut, 72-player event, DraftKings has a wide variety of contests and formats available. If you’re teeing it up with some conservative lineups designed for cash games, my three top fantasy golf cash plays to consider are Xander Schauffele ($10,000), Adam Scott ($8,900) and Alex Noren ($7,400).
Make sure to also check out my top-three pivot plays for tournament lineups for the Truist if you’re looking for some less popular, under-the-radar picks. Pivot plays for tournament lineups are usually more aggressive, while fantasy golf cash game picks are safer with higher floors and lower risk. The picks in this post generally have higher ownership than my pivot plays, but they are good selections for contests where the uniqueness of your lineup is less important. Think of cash game picks as lying back and playing a par 5 as it was designed, taking three shots before reaching the green, searching for a solid birdie. Tournament picks are like going driver off the deck to try to reach the green in two — more reward if it works, but much more risk, as well.

Cameron Young ($10,100) is coming off a dominant win last week and Rory McIlroy ($11,700) has a great history at Quail Hollow and is coming off another win at the first major championship of the season. While both of those players are strong players to build around, Schauffele has been very consistent lately and seems on the verge of claiming his first 2026 victory. To avoid just chasing points, playing Schauffele can be a strong option to anchor your cash game plays for this week.
While he hasn’t won since last fall in Japan, Schauffele has turned in four straight top-12 finishes, including a third-place finish at THE PLAYERS Championship and a top-10 at the Masters. Before taking last week off and passing on the Cadillac Championship, Schauffele finished T-12 at the RBC Heritage.
Like much of his recent history, Schauffele’s history at Quail Hollow is filled with top finishes even though he hasn’t gotten a win in Charlotte. He finished runner-up in 2024 and 2023 at Quail Hollow, and T-14 in 2021. Last year, he made the cut at the PGA Championship and finished T-28, gaining strokes everywhere but on approach.
Over the last three months, Schauffele ranks in the top five in the field in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green, Strokes Gained: Approach, Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee and Total Strokes Gained. He just needs a few bounces to go his way to pick up a win this week, and he has such a high floor that he’s my favorite pay-up play for cash lineups.
Adam Scott had a nightmare start to last week in Doral. His four-over Round 1 included a two-stroke penalty for hitting the wrong golf ball, and it would have been understandable if he just faded into the pack after his rough start. That’s not what happened, though, as Scott caught fire the rest of the week and finished with a 66-64 weekend that vaulted him all the way up to T-4.
He led the field last week in Strokes Gained: Approach and has also led this very strong field in Strokes Gained: Approach over the last three months. He is also in the top 10 in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green and Total Strokes Gained over that span.
The T-4 last week was his second top-five finish this season, and he has six top-25 finishes in his last eight events. Dating back to last November in Australia, he has four top-10 finishes in 11 events worldwide and hasn’t missed a cut in almost a year since last summer’s Open Championship.
Not only did Scott finish T-4 last week on a long course in a Signature Event, but he also finished fourth at The Genesis Invitational in another similar set of circumstances. He has proven he can play in a wide variety of courses and setups and turn in excellent finishes.
In 2023, he finished T-5 at Quail Hollow, which was his third career top-10 finish at the track. He finished in the top 20 at last year’s PGA Championship as well. He has an impressive course history and plenty of momentum after turning things around last week, so the 45-year-old Aussie makes a great option from just under $9,000 in your cash lineups this week.
Another international veteran with the skills and course knowledge to deliver a strong return on value this week is 43-year-old Alex Noren, who is coming off his first top-10 finish on the PGA TOUR this season.
He finished T-7 at The Blue Monster last week and posted top-25 finishes at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Genesis Invitational at Signature Events earlier this season. He struggled two weeks ago at Harbour Town, but bounced back strong in Doral.
He has a solid course history at Quail Hollow, which makes sense based on his ability to grind out pars in tough scoring conditions. In 2024, he finished T-24 at this venue, and last year, he finished T-17 at the PGA Championship. He started the Final Round in second place behind only eventual champion Scottie Scheffler. At that event, he was just returning from a torn hamstring tendon and seemed to run out of gas after playing well early in the week.
After he finished his recovery, he won twice on the DP World Tour last fall, triumphing at the Betfred British Masters and the BMW PGA Championship.
Last week at Doral, Noren finished the week with three rounds under 70, and he ended up third in the field in GIR%, 11th in Strokes Gained: Approach and 12th in Strokes Gained: Putting. His accuracy off the tee and strong short game should set him up well for another good finish this week.
While he isn’t an exciting young rising star, he brings the kind of stability you want in cash game picks, so he’s a solid option at this salary at Quail Hollow.
