Blake Krass gives his best bet, pick and prediction for Saturday’s FIFA World Cup match between Scotland and Haiti.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup has finally arrived, and the opening match of Group C sees Scotland take on Haiti. This match takes place at 9:00 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
Here are the odds for the match:
Let’s dive into my favorite bet for this match.
This is a monumental World Cup for Scotland. Scotland has not been to a World Cup since 1998, and has never made it out of the group stage before. This core group of Andy Robertson, John McGinn, Kieran Tierney, Ryan Christie, Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour is one of the most talented collections of players the nation has had in decades. While this is their first World Cup as a group, this could also be their last chance to win at the World Cup with this core. Many of these players have built up to this tournament, but will be on the wrong side of their prime four years from now. This team is incredibly sound defensively and is tough to beat in the midfield. Their biggest issue is scoring goals. However, if Scotland can lean on that defense and steal a goal or two in a couple of matches, they could make it out of the group stage here in North America.
This is Haiti’s second-ever trip to the World Cup. They last made it in 1974, when only 16 teams made the tournament. That team was led by Emmanuel “Manno” Sanon, Haiti’s greatest ever footballer. The team’s star player in 2026 is Duckens Nazon, who plays in the Persian Gulf Pro League. He is Haiti’s all-time leading goalscorer and will be a threat to this Scottish defense. This team making it to the World Cup was an incredible accomplishment for a nation in need of some hope. However, they will be significant underdogs in all three group stage matches.
My best bet is on Scotland to win and keep a clean sheet. This is an experienced team, full of players who have been a part of big occasions at the club level. This is one of those groups at the World Cup where the players are truly best friends and want to win for each other. There is also an intense national pride among the Scottish, who have always been the underdogs. They know that to have any chance in this group, they need to win this match. This should be a disciplined and intense effort from Scotland, securing them the three points and keeping Haiti out of their net.
