Following a strong ninth episode that sent home fan favorite Christian Hubicki, Survivor 50 returned Wednesday night with the tenth installment of the show’s most anticipated season yet. Including spoilers for who was voted out, let’s recap Survivor 50 Episode 10: A Side Dish of Chaos.
Finally, the flip-floppin’ Emily Flippen had to face the consequences of her actions. After some not-so-humble bragging from Ozzy, Emily and Devens attempted to piece together a potential path forward back on the Manulevu beach.
The following morning, Rick finally admitted to his fake idol scheme in front of the group. While he did so in an attempt to take the target off his back as “too easy of a vote”, Joe only felt invigorated in his quest to take him out.
The tribe then headed out for another installment of a Survivor fan favorite, the auction. In a season full of twists, another one emerged. The theme of this auction was “Comfort vs. Chaos”, and contestants were able to share money and certain food items! In the first twist of the event, Aubry earned chocolate chip cookies for herself and Rizo by downing a pair of grubs. Many items later, including Cirie boot and rallying to finish her charcuterie board, the group collectively won their letters from home… before Mr. Beast popped out to ruin the fun. The infamous YouTuber brought out a brief case, revealing a “super beware advantage” that would be unveiled at tribal council.
After Mr. Beast’s visit, the contestants were hurried immediately to the immunity challenge, leaving them no time to think about the ramifications of their decision. The contest was a Survivor bow balancing classic, and Tiffany was the last person standing, earning safety at the upcoming vote.
Before the chaos began back at camp, the tribe received their letters from home. In a particularly emotional scene, Cirie received a letter from her father for the first time in her life. Then, the gameplay resumed. In an effort to make a resume-defining move, Jonathan began scheming to blindside Ozzy. Unfortunately for Jonathan, word of that plan ultimately trickled down to Cirie… the one person it couldn’t reach outside of Ozzy himself. The Survivor legend then threw the target on Stephenie. Naturally, the latter heard about these schemes, and began scrambling herself.
Heading to tribal, there were countless chaotic plans thrown around, but no one knew how the vote would play out. Upon arriving, the pandemonium continued after Devens aired everyone’s plans out. The group was then greeted once again by Mr. Beast, who revealed that his super beware advantage was a gold coin. The person who flips it would either earn safety at tribal, an immunity idol, and the prize money doubling for the season’s winner… or they would go home.
Shockingly, Devens volunteered to flip the life or death coin. The tribe allowed him to do so, and he called it correctly, earning immunity, an idol, and an extra million dollars in the pot. That left eight vulnerable contestants. After yet another significant scramble, the tribe voted. However, not before Stephenie stole Devens’ vote. In the end, Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick was sent home, becoming the fifth member of the Survivor 50 jury.
