Get the latest opening odds, betting lines and series prices for the Avalanche vs. Kings matchup in the first round of the 2026 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The regular season is old news, and it’s time to turn the page to playoff hockey. All of the first-round matchups have been finalized, and the schedule has been released, along with series odds on DraftKings Sportsbook! We’ll be focusing on the Avalanche vs. Kings series, which is by far the most lopsided matchup of the first round.
As things currently stand, the Avalanche are -450 favorites to win the series and advance to the second round. The Kings are +340 underdogs. Here’s a quick breakdown of the series.

You really gotta feel for Kings fans sometimes. They finally avoid having to face the Oilers in the first round, only to draw a matchup against the Avalanche. However, this Kings team doesn’t necessarily deserve to even be in the playoffs because of the classic “loser point” scenario that has ruined NHL playoff formatting for years. Los Angeles had the same number of regulation wins as overtime losses (19). For reference, the three Western Conference teams that missed out on the final wild-card spot all had more wins than the Kings. Still, this will be Anze Kopitar’s final season, and the club traded for Artemi Panarin near the deadline, so there is noise to be made.
On the other bench is the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Avalanche. Colorado started off incredibly hot, to a point where it seemed legitimately impossible to come out on top against the club. We’re all aware how elite the Avalanche are, fielding top-notch talent, such as Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar and Martin Necas, among others. The club also has guys like Brock Nelson and Nazem Kadri to help lighten the load. Perhaps the scariest part of it all is that Colorado has finally found dependable goaltending between the tandem of Scott Wedgewood and Mackenzie Blackwood. No team has scored more goals across the past three seasons than the Avalanche, and now their opponents must deal with viable goaltending in the playoffs. Not great, Bob!
When it comes to Stanley Cup odds on DraftKings Sportsbook, the Avalanche find themselves with the shortest odds at +300. Los Angeles holds +6000 odds, which ranks third-highest among all playoff teams.
