Bryan Armetta breaks down his two favorite MLB bets today on DraftKings Sportsbook for Saturday’s 15-game slate.
A 15-game, 30-team slate is set for Saturday across Major League Baseball. There’s plenty of must-watch matchups on tap, starting with the red-hot Cubs this evening against the Rangers. Elsewhere, Cam Schlittler will hope to give the Yankees a win against the contending Brewers. As a nightcap, it’ll be the Braves battling the Dodgers in a potential NLCS preview.
With so many contests on deck, the options are endless for bettors. Before the start of Saturday’s action, here are two MLB bets worth placing on DraftKings Sportsbook.
The AL Central, per usual, is up for grabs. At the moment, it’s the Guardians leading the way with a modest 21-19 record. On the flip side, Minnesota (16-23) is already fading out of contention. As always, the Guardians have won most of their games thanks to pitching and quality defense. That’s despite mediocre production from tonight’s starter, Tanner Bibee. Through eight outings this season, the right-hander owns a mediocre 4.58 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 36 strikeouts. However, he’s been much better at home (1.66 ERA) than he has been on the road (8.15 ERA).
Bibee will need to be at his best tonight with Twins ace Joe Ryan toeing the slab. However, the Guardians have had some success against the former All-Star. Ryan owns a mediocre 4.85 ERA over his last five meetings with Cleveland. On the flip side, the Twins have struggled in this spot before. Bibee has given up two runs or less in five of his last six outings against Minnesota. The Guards, winners in three straight, have a good shot at making it four tonight.
After getting blanked last night, the Yankees will be eager to turn things around on Saturday night. However, that’s easier said than done. New York, for all its power, can go through prolonged scoring droughts. Milwaukee may have unearthed a hidden gem in Kyle Harrison. Once a top prospect in San Francisco, the 24-year-old has been terrific with the Brewers. Through 29.2 innings, he’s notched a 2.12 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 35 strikeouts. However, the Pinstripes own the American League’s top OPS against left-handed pitching (.782). New York’s three best hitters have an OPS above .900 against southpaws: Ben Rice (1.283), Aaron Judge (1.072) and Cody Bellinger (.990).
To be fair, Harrison is more than capable of delivering a quality performance tonight. That’ll likely be necessary if the Brewers are going to earn an upset this evening. Cam Schlittler is on the bump for the Yankees, making his ninth start. The 2025 breakout has continued to dominate this season, emerging as one of the sport’s top arms. Through 47.1 innings, he’s posted an MLB-best 1.52 ERA in addition to an 0.87 WHIP and 53 strikeouts. Schlittler has allowed more than one earned run on just two occasions. To boot, he has a sparkling 1.17 ERA over five outings on the road. The fireballer throws a four-seam fastball or sinker on nearly two-thirds of his pitches (64%). When thrown at 96 MPH or greater, Milwaukee has a .221 batting average against those two offerings. Keeping that in mind, it’s difficult to go against the Yankees in this one.
