THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson will be played at TPC Craig Ranch (par 71, 7,385 yards, bentgrass greens) in McKinney, Texas for the sixth straight year. Scottie Scheffler (-31) won this event by eight strokes a year ago. For this week, there will be 147 players competing and a top-65 and ties cut after the first two rounds.

Below, I have featured two of my favorite outright long shot bets to win the CJ CUP Byron Nelson on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Stephan Jaeger (+7200)

Jaeger’s lone win on the PGA TOUR came in the Lone Star State, winning the 2024 Houston Open and he has played well at TPC Craig Ranch, making 4-of-4 cuts and finishing inside the top-20 twice. Jaeger finished T11th at this par 71 in 2023 and he closed the event with an 8-under 63, which is his second-lowest score on the PGA TOUR.

Jaeger now travels back to TPC Craig Ranch on the heels of a T18 finish at the PGA Championship last week, which is his best major finish to date. Aronimink GC was a very challenging test, especially the complex putting surfaces, but Jaeger finished ninth in SGP for the event and he shot under par on both Thursday and Sunday. Jaeger concluded the PGA Championship with 3-under 67, which was the fourth-lowest number of the final round.

Jaeger has made 8-of-12 cuts with two top-10 finishes this season and he has gained strokes with his putter in four of his last six starts, which is an encouraging sign for TPC Craig Ranch, where 4-of-5 winners have finished the tournament top-15 in SGP. Coming off the impressive performance at Aronimink, Jaeger should play with a ton of confidence at TPC Craig Ranch and he is worth backing at this long number.

Chris Kirk (+10000)

Kirk is starting to find his game again after a tough start to the season. The veteran has made five straight solo cuts, most recently with a T44 at the PGA Championship last week. While this finish doesn’t jump off the page, when we take a deeper dive, there were some really encouraging signs from Kirk. The 41-year-old carded a 5-under 65 in the third round, which was the second-best score of the major. Plus, Kirk finished the week 11th in SG APP and he has now gained at least 1.0 strokes on approach in three of his last seven solo starts.

Approach play is most vital at TPC Craig Ranch – 3-of-5 winners here have finished the event top-three in SG APP – and if Kirk can continue to strike the ball at a high level, him contending in this weak field is a possibility.

With six PGA TOUR victories on his resume, Kirk is no stranger to winning. He most recently won the 2024 Sentry and Kirk is a former champion in Texas, winning the 2015 Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial.
