Bryan Armetta breaks down Thursday’s three-game featured NBA playoffs DFS slate to find two undervalued players to slot into your lineups.
Thursday means a three-game featured NBA DFS postseason slate. Two Eastern Conference heavyweights, the Knicks and Celtics, are attempting to clinch their series on the road tonight. Later, the Timberwolves hope to defend home court against the rival Nuggets. There’s plenty of star power on the floor tonight, including Nikola Jokic ($12,700), Jayson Tatum ($9,500) and Karl-Anthony Towns ($8,700).
With that being said, snagging multiple high-priced players can make building the rest of your lineup a chore. Fortunately, there are several low-cost values that make sense for fantasy managers tonight. Which bargains are worth a closer look ahead of this evening’s matchups?

Joel Embiid ($8,600) dominated in Game 5, sending this series back to Philadelphia. It wasn’t the best performance on either end of the floor for Neemias Queta. Boston’s starting center offered little opposition defensively, getting chewed up by the former MVP. Still, the fifth-year pro has been a reliable presence down low all season for the Celtics. Through 76 appearances during the regular season, he averaged 10.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks (26.8 FPTS). Even during Tuesday’s letdown game, Queta managed to deliver 27.0 fantasy points via eight points and 14 rebounds.
In spite of middling offensive production and inconsistent minutes, Queta remains a valuable piece for the Celtics. After all, he’s done well in this spot before. The Utah State alum is averaging 10.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks over eight meetings with Philadelphia this season. During that time, he’s also shooting better than 70% from the field. In addition, the Sixers are allowing the NBA’s seventh-most rebounds per game to opponents (54.7). Embiid, for all his scoring skills, isn’t the best on the glass at this stage of his career. Boston’s underrated big man makes plenty of sense at less than $5,000 tonight.
New York has reeled off two straight wins due in large part to height. Karl-Anthony Towns has been a primary scorer and facilitator for the Knicks, opening up the offense. Still, the seven-footer remains flawed on the other end of the floor. Fortunately for the Knicks, overqualified backup Mitchell Robinson provides elite defense. This postseason, the eighth-year pro has notched 6.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game (16.1 FPTS). He’s done so despite failing to record more than 18 minutes in any of his playoff outings.
Despite inconsistent production, we’ve seen Mitch take over postseason games before. New York’s offense has been lights out over the last two games, so there hasn’t been as much need for a defensive stopper. On the road, against a desperate Hawks squad, points might be harder to come by on Thursday. Keep in mind, Atlanta is giving up the 11th-most fantasy points per game to opposing centers. Backup big Jock Landale (ankle) remains sidelined, giving the Knicks a major advantage off the bench. Considering his affordable $3,800 price tag, Robinson is worth taking a flier on this evening.
