Charlie Cummings gives his best anytime goalscorer bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Tuesday’s FIFA World Cup slate.
So far, things aren’t going well for big favorites in this World Cup. Every favorite is playing scared, afraid to expose themselves to the counter and get burned. I expect some caginess from France, but ultimately, there is too much talent for Les Bleus to be held scoreless.
Michael Olise has been a goal-scoring monster all season long. For Bayern Munich, Olise bagged 25 goals across all competitions. For his country, he had a pair of goals in the qualifying round and three in four friendlies. He can fire rockets from outside the box, a huge asset in this competition, and works well into open space to capitalize on wingers getting behind the defense. Senegal’s defense can be tough, but Olise is in unstoppable form.
Every year, there are surprises in the World Cup, players who go from relative unknowns to household names. This is a chance for Iliman Ndiaye to be one of those breakout stars.
After a mediocre 2023/24 campaign in France, Everton took a chance on Ndiaye translating to the Premier League, and it has paid off massively. He’s an extremely impressive take-on winger with 15 goals in two Premier League seasons, a setting that translates well to the Cup. Playing end-to-end football at AFCON didn’t suit his style as well as it will in this competition. France’s back-line defense is suspect at the half-back spots, and I like Ndiaye’s odds of beating his man out wide and creating chances on goal.
Nobody dominated the UEFA qualifiers the way Erling Haaland did. And it’s nothing new. In 2022, Haaland scored five goals in six qualifying matches, along with six goals in six Nations League matches. He followed that up with seven goals in six 2024 Nations League matches and six goals in five EURO qualifying matches. In 2026, Haaland has been absurd for his home country, bagging a whopping 16 goals in eight qualifying matches, willing Norway into the World Cup.
Iraq’s defense will be pressed all night trying to keep Haaland under wraps. His ability to slip behind the defense, poach balls in the box, and finish off cutbacks is unparalleled. The value of Haaland keeping his absurd pace from the qualifying round is too good to ignore.
In the 2022 World Cup run for Argentina, 22-year-old Julian Alvarez was a revelation. The young River Plate striker bagged four goals in seven matches and parlayed his success into a transfer to Manchester City, where he became a star. Since moving to Atletico Madrid, he has ascended into true superstardom. Now Alvarez returns to the stage where he once ascended, looking to cement his status as one of the world’s best.
As much as I want to buy into the rock-chalk Algeria mindset, they’re going to have an impossible task handling Argentina’s attack. Alvarez’s ability to capitalize on cutbacks will be crucial here, and his scoring will propel them to victory.
This marks Carney Chukwuemeka’s first World Cup after switching over from England, and he’s going to be a crucial part of Austria’s high-pressure attack. They’re going to be relentless in seizing possession from Jordan, applying constant pressure to the underdogs. Chukwuemeka’s speed and ability to take on defenders will work in his favor in this matchup. Marcel Sabitzer is always the danger man for Austria, and has been dynamic in the lead-up, but someone will be able to capitalize on his immense gravity in the middle. I expect Chukwuemeka to take advantage. Keep an eye on the lineups; he’s not always a starter for manager Ralf Rangnick.
