Ryan Wohl gives his best bet for Alex Perez vs. Sumudaerji at this week’s UFC Fight Night in Macau.
Former UFC Flyweight title challenger, No. 11 Alex Perez, is taking on Sumudaerji in the opening bout of this week’s UFC Fight Night Main Card. Perez is coming off a first-round knockout victory over Charles Johnson at UFC 324, while Sumudaerji is on a three-fight winning streak.
Check out my prediction for Alex Perez vs. Sumudaerji at UFC Macau.
Sumudaerji is coming off a win against Jesus Aguilar at UFC 326 in March and hasn’t lost a fight since October 2024. If Sumudaerji can get past Perez, it would be his longest winning streak since 2018. But Perez has the edge in experience in this fight as he is a former UFC Flyweight title challenger. Perez is 2-5 in his previous seven contests, and hasn’t won two consecutive fights since 2020.
Sumudaerji has psychological advantages over Perez in this fight, as he is taller (5’8″ vs. 5’6″) and has a larger standing reach (72″ vs. 65″). Both fighters in this bout do their best work on the feet. Perez lands more significant strikes per minute (4.43 vs. 4.41) at a higher rate (50% vs. 46%) than Sumudaerji does. An area in this fight that favors Sumudaerji is on the ground, where he lands 2.21 takedowns per 15 minutes compared to Perez’s 0.67.
In this contest, Perez is the favorite at -130 while Sumudaerji is a +110 underdog on DraftKings Sportsbook. If Sumudaerji can implement his elite takedown defense (72%) while being more aggressive on the feet, he should be able to win this fight. Perez’s last three wins have come by knockout, so Sumudaerji has to watch out for his power.
