Zach Thompson dives into Monday night’s six-game MLB slate to find three value options for your DraftKings lineups.
On Monday night, Major League Baseball has a six-game slate on the scoreboard, giving everyone a great chance to start the week with an exciting MLB DFS contest. With a dozen teams on the board, plenty of big-name stars are available to build your fantasy lineups around, but there are also some strong MLB DFS Value Picks who offer good upside and potential production even though they are available at affordable salaries. The first pitch of the slate is early at 6:10 p.m. ET, so be sure to get your lineups locked in!
The weather looks clear for the most part this Monday night. Dodger Stadium looks like an especially good spot for offense with warm temperatures and the wind blowing out. Cleveland will be almost 20 degrees cooler with the wind blowing in, so that could be a good spot to look to lean into pitching instead of offense.
Let’s dive in and take a look at a few of the best value plays from the 12 teams in the player pool this Monday night.

The pitcher-friendly cooler weather in Cleveland sets Cantillo up as my top value play from the probable pitchers on Monday’s slate. Cantillo is 2-1 on the year with a 3.66 ERA and 4.41 FIP. He has been especially effective at home with 21 strikeouts in 15 2/3 innings, helping him to average 19.8 FPTS in his three home starts. Cantillo has at least 10 FPTS in all but one of his starts this year, with the exception coming on the road in Sacramento.
At home on Monday, he gets a good matchup against the Halos, who lead the American League in K% and have averaged 9.7 strikeouts per game this season. With good strikeout potential boosting his upside and a favorable environment, he has a great opportunity to return excellent value in the first game of the day to start Monday’s MLB DFS picks out hot.
Let’s stick in Cleveland and grab a bargain option from the offense as well. Rookie Travis Bazzana has been a lightning rod since joining the lineup a few weeks ago and has averaged 9.9 FPTS in his 11 games.
He has seven stolen bases in seven attempts in those 11 games and is 6-for-36 (.194) but with five walks, a home run and a 36.7% hard-hit rate. All that speed and his good plate approach has led to plenty of fantasy production despite his low batting average. He has at least 7 FPTS in four straight games and went off for 28 FPTS with his first MLB homer on Friday.
Jones is a controversial prospect since he comes loaded with power and speed potential but also has a high strikeout rate and a low batting average. He came up to the Yankees before their weekend set in Milwaukee and only averaged 2.3 FPTS per game by going 1-for-9 with five strikeouts, a walk, an RBI and a single. He showed plenty of potential in Triple-A, though, hitting .258 with 11 homers and seven stolen bases in 33 games before his promotion. Even in Triple-A, he had a 32.4% K%, so strikeouts will likely be a limiting factor to his big-picture fantasy upside.
However, in a single-game format like a DraftKings contest, his upside is huge since he can be a great value play with either a home run or a stolen base. His salary is so low that just one big event makes him a great option. He’s in a good spot against Brandon Young ($8,000), as detailed in my MLB DFS stacks for this Monday, and he is a good option if he gets another start at hitter-friendly Oriole Park in Camden Yards on Monday night. If the big man delivers, he could be a slate-breaker in Monday’s MLB DFS picks.
