Odds: -105 | Opponent: St. Louis Cardinals
Matthew Liberatore is scheduled to take the mound for the Cardinals tonight against the Diamondbacks. It’s been an extremely tough month for the Cardinals starter, who has made three starts but has only pitched 10.1 innings. That’s because over that span, he’s allowed 16 runs (12 earned) on 16 hits, including five home runs against the Reds, Twins and Royals. Now he’ll face a tough lineup against lefties in the Diamondbacks. Tonight’s expected lineup has a combined .369 wOBA with a .217 ISO and only a 12% K% against left-handed pitching. The Cardinals bullpen hasn’t been providing much relief either, as over the last week, spanning 25 innings, they have a 6.48 ERA with an xERA of 6.28 and a 6.82 FIP. I think the bats will be loud for the D-Backs in St. Louis tonight.
Odds: +122 | Opponent: Philadelphia Phillies
Targeting against Aaron Nola has become a hobby of mine, especially with left-handed bats. On the season, Nola has a .392 wOBA with a 5.87 FIP and nine of the 15 home runs he’s allowed to left-handed bats. This positions Garcia in a great spot, as he’s been hitting for a lot of power this season. His ISO of .221 is by far the highest of his career, beating the previous high of .169. Of his 56 hits against right-handed pitching, 25 have gone for extra bases. With winds blowing out gently toward right field, I’m more than willing to grab Garcia at 2+ total bases for +122.

Odds: +135 | Opponent: Colorado Rockies
We have quite the pitching mismatch taking place this afternoon at Coors Field. Ranger Suarez will be on the hill for the Red Sox, taking on Kyle Freeland for the Rockies. Freeland is in the midst of worst year of his career, owning a 7.36 ERA with an xERA of 5.61 and a 1.9 HR/9. He’s allowed at least three runs in four of his last five starts, and at least five runs in three of those starts. Meanwhile, Suarez has been one of the most consistent pitchers in the league with a 2.93 ERA, an xERA of 3.40 and a 2.84 FIP. Coors Field can certainly minimize how effective a pitcher can be but it also makes bad pitchers even worse, especially in the case of Freeland. With how bad he’s been, I’m looking at the Red Sox to lead by at least two runs at +135 this afternoon.
