Ciaran Doyle gives his best bet on DraftKings Sportsbook for Saturday’s FIFA World Cup match between Switzerland and Qatar.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup has finally arrived, and the second match of Group B will feature Switzerland facing off against Qatar.
Let’s dive into my favorite bet for this match.
Switzerland enters the World Cup ranked 19th in the FIFA rankings, while Qatar is ranked 56th in the world.
This bet can be found under the “Match Parlays” tab. The Swiss should win this group, and that will start with a crucial three points in their opening match of the group. Qatar are likely going to be the doormat of this group, as Switzerland, Canada and Bosnia are all much better equipped all over the pitch. That being said, there are no easy games in the World Cup, and the Swiss will need to show up with the right attitude to get the three points.
Switzerland had a breeze in UEFA qualifying, going undefeated in their six matches. They won four of those, drawing two. They scored 14 goals, conceding only twice. This is a team that also has a lot of major tournament experience. In the 2022 World Cup, they advanced to the Round of 16, but then ran into Portugal, one of the best teams in the world. In 2024, they went one step further in the Euros, advancing to the quarter-finals before losing on penalties to England. They did however knock out Italy on their way.
For Qatar, this will be their second World Cup appearance. They hosted the tournament in 2022, but lost all three games in their group, scoring only once and conceding seven times. I’m afraid 2026 could look a lot similar to their last performance. This time they did qualify on their own, winning a play-off game against the UAE to book their spot in the tournament. Unfortunately for them, the Swiss present a whole different level of challenge.
Look for Switzerland to win this one comfortably, and their solid defensive record to continue. I’m expecting three points and a shutout for the Swiss.
