WNBA Best Bets: Prediction, Pick for Dallas Wings vs. Chi...

Meghan Townsley previews Wednesday’s WNBA matchup between the Dallas Wings and Chicago Sky and provides her best pick.

Just a few weeks into the season, WNBA action has been red-hot. On Wednesday, the Dallas Wings head to Chicago to take on the Sky in what is gearing up to be a high-scoring matchup. Tip-off is set for 9:00 p.m. ET, with the Wings listed as 3.5-point favorites and the total sitting at 169.5 on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Also, DraftKings Sportsbook is offering a 30% WNBA SGP(x) profit boost for today’s games, opt in here!

Let’s get into it!

Wings vs. Sky Preview

The Sky’s performance so far in 2026 has been a pleasant surprise. After receiving backlash for trading away magnetic star Angel Reese in the offseason, Chicago’s capability to efficiently operate a professional basketball team was on trial; however, they are currently tied with the New York Liberty for the best record in the league at 3-1. Despite being in supposed “rebuilding mode,” Chicago is averaging 84.0 points per game (2nd) and 37.8 rebounds per game (3rd), even without Reese on the roster.

Early success has been driven by impressive aggression on the defensive end, specifically from Jacy Sheldon, Kamilla Cardoso, and Rickea Jackson, paired with offensive depth. Sheldon is averaging 2.0 steals per game, while the latter two players are both averaging 1.8 blocks per game. Offensively, five players are averaging double-digit scoring, most notably Jackson with 18.0 PPG and rookie Gabriela Jaquez — fresh off winning a National Championship.

Here’s where the bad news comes in: Jackson just suffered a torn ACL in Sunday’s 86-79 win over the Lynx and will miss the rest of the season. This is not only a huge blow to the team, but also to the young player, who was coming into her own as a versatile two-way force in Chicago. With Jackson off the floor, the Sky’s revamped roster will look to veteran Skylar Diggins to carry more of the offensive burden, while guard Jacy Sheldon, who is on her fourth team in her third WNBA season, will hopefully improve her shot creation. The season isn’t over for the Sky, but I am curious as to why the line is so close in this matchup.

After back-to-back losses last week, the Wings bounced back on Monday with a convincing 92-69 win over the Mystics. The team played with cohesion and control, holding the lead for 97% of the contest while five players scored in double figures. That point is especially interesting because, after Dallas’ two losses, head coach Jose Fernandez publicly stated to the Wings’ media that there was selfishness in the locker room, hinting at players raising concerns over playing time. It is still early in the season, but locker room conflict needs to be nipped in the bud, and it seems that’s exactly what happened on Monday night.

Paige Bueckers, of course, led the way with 18 points and seven assists while draining an impressive 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. Arike Ogunbowale bounced back from her six-point performance against the Lynx, adding 16 points and three steals to the box score. Jessica Shepard exploded for a 12-point, 16-rebound double-double, while 2026 No. 1 overall pick Azzi Fudd also scored 12 points — her highest scoring output since joining the league. Collectively, the Wings possess a promising offense that’s averaging 89.3 points per game (4th) with the second-best offensive rating in the league (112.3). However, they’ve struggled to take care of the ball, turning it over at the third-highest rate in the league (15.4%). If the Wings can limit turnovers and control the pace, they should leave Chicago with another win under their belt.
